We are looking for a dedicated Phlebotomist like you to be a part of our team.Job Summary:Perform phlebotomy procedures to obtain specimens for laboratory testing. Transport, process, and perform clerical duties as necessary for testing on patient samples.Reports to: Lead Phlebotomist, Lab Manager and Laboratory Director.What You Will Do in This RoleYou will greet patients and instruct them in proper specimen collection methods.You will draw blood specimens from patients by using finger sticks, heel sticks or venipunctures and collect other specimens as required.You will label specimens for identification purposes accurately and enter specimen data into the computer.You will prepare samples for microbiology, hematology, serology, blood bank, and urinalysis departmentsYou will assist with clerical duties by answering telephone calls.Licensure/certification/registration:HR diploma or GED requiredMinimum 6 months phlebotomy experience required or Certification through a clinical phlebotomy program may be considered in lieu of experienceAcute care hospital experience is strongly preferredSkilled phlebotomy technique; BLS within 30 days of hireMedical City McKinney opened its doors more than 90 years ago. We are a 285+ bed acute care hospital. We serve the residents of McKinney and northern Collin County. Our main campus is a Level III Trauma Center. We provide emergency services at our main campus and at Medical City ER Stonebridge. We have cardiovascular and neurological services. We offer general surgery, orthopedics and women's services. Additionally, a Level II neonatal intensive care unit and behavioral health services. Medical City McKinney is a Primary Stroke Center. We are also a stroke rehabilitation center. We are certified by The Joint Commission for total hip and total knee replacement. We are a part of the Medical City network of hospitals.
