Our team members have what they need to make a meaningful impact and are truly valued for who they are and what they contribute.To learn more about CIBC, please visit CIBC.comThe Segment Risk Head of Reporting reports to the U.S. Head of Risk Oversight & Segment Risk and is accountable for leading the Segment Risk Team’s reporting and analytics activities, and in supporting the U.S. Head of Risk Oversight & Segment Risk in all Day-to-Day Risk Oversight including Operational and Long Term Strategic needs within the Segment Risk Management Department, managing oversight support team and integrating with Segment Risk’s Senior Risk Officers to complete compendium reporting for assessment units, including but not exclusive to the following:  KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES1. Lead and direct reporting activities within Segment Risk, drive a culture of continuous improvement, through identification and implementation of resources and processes including:Identification of themes, trends, top and emerging risks across assessment units and CUSO leveraging:Risk identification – self assessmentsRisk identification – 2LOD assessmentsCommittees, Councils and Forums (1LOD an 2LOD)Support SROs with reports, metrics and/or analysis of 1LOD/ Segment controlsSupport SRT with Segment Risk department controls and control testingSupport SROs with reports, metrics and/or analysis of 1LOD/ Segment deficiencies.Support SROs with assessment or analysis of Segment guidelines, standards and exceptions: themes, approach, leading practicesSupport SROs with Compendium Reporting including: Background, Environment, Portfolio, Metrics, Risks, Issues, Mitigants and OutlookSupport SROs with planned or ad-hoc risk reviews: use technology to develop scope and execute risk assessmentPublish or generate quarterly Risk Committee-ready materials or presentations Support SRT with department policies and procedures2. Lead and direct activities related to continuous improvement and expansion of Segment Risk data storage, through identification and implementation of resources and processes including:Permanent approved assessments, audits, regulatory presentations/submissionsTemporary “trusted & verified” files for industry Points-of-View and externally sourced information used within assessment unit decision makingMaintain a structured file naming convention and folder structure for effective and efficient storage, retrieval and usage to answer queries/AI prompts.3. Assist Head of Segment Risk with Integration of CIBC US Risk Management Organizational and Governance related activities, including strategy and long-term implementation.KEY CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPSRegular interaction and close partnering with CIBC Risk Management and Compliance groups Regular interaction with leaders across CIBC Combined US OperationsInteraction with External/Internal Auditors, Risk Management Association, etc.PEOPLE LEADERSHIP ACCOUNTABILITIESSet appropriate context when assigning work to ensure that individuals’ roles support the achievement of the business unit’s priorities and CIBC’s overall goals.Build team and individual capabilities by providing development opportunities such as job shadowing, special projects, and training.Manage performance by providing fair and accurate formal and informal feedback, identifying and removing obstacles to performance and by explaining how performance expectations align with business priorities.Create a positive work environment and being an effective role model by championing CIBC’s mission, vision and values.Ensure compliance with policies, standards, guidelines and controls by applying the policies and controls fairly and consistently so employees understand what to expect.Hire the right people in the right jobs to align individual capabilities with job requirements and business unit goals.COMPLIANCE REQUIREMENTS/RESPONSIBILITIESAs an employee of CIBC, the incumbent must comply with all applicable CIBC and Line of Business policies, guidelines and controls.As the manager of people, this job must ensure all employees within the business unit comply with all applicable CIBC and Line of Business policies, standards, guidelines and control requirements.This person is responsible to lead and direct activities related to continuous improvement and expansion for all assigned areas herein for the US Region Risk Management organization.  Responsibilities may include interactions with Global CIBC Leadership, US Regional Leadership across all Lines of Business, and Regulators. AUTHORITIES/DECISION RIGHTS The role is a key contact for Segment Risk- Reporting coverage and the horizontal connectivity across Assessment Units and the Independent Risk Management risk departments ERM, ORM, Conduct Risk, Stress Testing, Market/Liquidity Risk, and Credit Risk related matters within the US Region.Authorizing expenses and overseeing budgets according to applicable CIBC policies.KEY CAPABILITIESUndergraduate Degree / Preferred to have Masters DegreeA minimum of 10 years experienceDeep understanding of risk management theory and practices.Comprehensive management skills sufficient to lead/motivate reports and peers, as appropriate.Extensive working knowledge of the external financial and regulatory environment from a risk perspective.Advanced presentation/interactive skills to clearly articulate complex conceptual information/ideas.Excellent writing skills sufficient to prepare interpretative, analytical and creative materials involving precise articulation of ideas and opinions.Problem solving skills sufficient to select and modify general approaches and solutions suitable for given problems or issues.Demonstrate integrity, possessing a strong stewardship and corporate governance profile with an ability to bring a mature perspective to discussions, as this position involves the interface with colleagues at all levels.Provide support to the Segment Risk group, as well as technical advice and guidance on complex and/or unique issues and recommendations for strategy.Creativity and innovation to address issues where very little precedence exists.Specific attributes includes:ConfidenceForward and strategic thinkingInitiativeDecision-making abilityDetail-orientedCreativeDevelops othersMakes an Impact and InfluencesWORKING CONDITIONSThis role operates within a normal office environment with little exposure to adverse working conditions.At CIBC, our people are our greatest asset. This role has an expected salary range of $185,000 - $191,000 for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
