Overview:
As a
Steel Estimator , you will play a pivotal role in estimating and preparing bids for a variety of commercial construction projects. Your responsibilities will include evaluating project specifications, generating accurate cost estimates, and helping to secure contracts. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to sales efforts by building strong relationships with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.This role offers growth potential for those who demonstrate strong project management skills and a desire to manage projects from start to finish. Ideal candidates will have a background in structural and miscellaneous steel, along with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Steel Estimator
Key Responsibilities:Estimating & Bidding:
Prepare accurate steel estimates for commercial construction projects, including schools, office buildings, and warehouses. Analyze project drawings, specifications, and other documents to determine scope and materials.
Sales & Client Interaction:
Collaborate with clients, architects, and general contractors to understand project needs and provide competitive bids. Maintain relationships and follow up on project opportunities.
Cost Analysis & Budgeting:
Review project requirements and costs, and ensure all estimates are within budget. Advise on material choices and alternative solutions to meet both design and budgetary constraints.
Project Coordination:
Work closely with the project management and fabrication teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and efficient project execution.
Growth & Advancement:
Opportunity to take on more responsibility, including managing projects from start to finish ("cradle-to-grave"), and leading teams through the design, fabrication, and installation phases.
Steel Estimator Qualifications:Experience:
3 years of experience in steel estimating, with a focus on structural and miscellaneous steel for commercial projects.
Knowledge:
Strong understanding of commercial construction processes, structural steel design, and industry standards. Familiarity with estimating software is a plus.
Skills:
Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Sales Acumen:
Ability to develop and maintain client relationships and demonstrate strong sales capabilities.
