Job DescriptionPOSITION TITLE: Network Support Technician - Level 1DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Technology / Technology Support CenterSTATUS: Classified - Non-Exempt, Full TimeHOURS OF WORK: 40 hours a week, 242-day calendarPOSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for installing, upgrading, and configuring workstations and District classroom equipment within the district; resolving software and hardware problems; and providing end-user support District wide. This position is part of the Technology team and reports to the Technology Support Manager. PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinate repair work schedules with site personnel with minimal disruption of services or inconvenience. Diagnose equipment failures or software related issues with PC and Mac desktop, laptop, iPad, network, printing, and instructional media equipment; identify needed repairs and ensure equipment is in proper working order. Installs computer hardware, peripherals, instructional media equipment and application and operating system software and upgrades. Maintain and upgrade desktop, laptop and tablet computers as needed. Provide technical support for network drop, cabling and port related issues and testing. Maintain manual and electronic documents, files, and records, (e.g. work order logs, inventory, etc.). Provide Help Desk and on-site troubleshooting network support for connectivity of District-Owned Wireless Endpoints (Primarily Windows-Based Laptops), District-Owned Wired PC Desktops, Windows 10, Microsoft products and educational software, Apple IOS and iPad. Repairs problems connected with desktop, network, instructional media, or cable issues for the purpose of maintaining equipment effectively and efficiently. Provide on-site and Help Desk support for a variety of technology related calls and questions from end-users. Provide information, guidance, or referral. Ensure the availability of supplies and equipment at a variety of sites, transport items when necessary. Provide ongoing support by tutoring school site staff on a variety of software applications and hardware operations, (e.g. e-mail, computer lab and/or instructional media usage, productivity applications, etc.). Attend meetings, workshops and/or trainings to convey and gather information required to perform job functions. Perform other duties as assigned. Education and Experience Requirements:High School Diploma required, associates or bachelor's degree in the technology field preferred 2-3 years working in a help desk environment required Background in computer repair and service required Minimum of A+ Certification required; other certifications preferred Must have own transportation Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills Strong customer service skills Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously Highly collaborative team player Ability to work with others with lesser technical skills to resolve questions and issues Demonstrated ability in problem-solving, organization, attention to detail, prompt documentation, time management and collaboration with Technology Division Staff High degree of motivation, responsibility, and confidentiality Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced work environment Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, etc.) PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires the performance of Medium work. The position involves Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. The position is in a normal office setting with exposure to computers, with interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule. The position includes significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, frequent reaching, walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity is required in carrying out the essential duties of this position. The position is performed in generally hazard free environment and a clean atmosphere.
