Overall Job Summary
The Business Analyst, Accounting Systems & Automation is responsible for identifying opportunities to improve processes, manage large datasets, and leverage automation tools to drive efficiency. This role combines data analytics with financial systems knowledge to provide actionable insights, enhance financial processes, and support data-driven decision-making. This individual will also manage accounting systems within SAP, support system enhancements, and serve as a Blackline Administrator, ensuring effective governance of financial operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)
Automation & Data Analytics:
Utilize data analytics techniques to analyze large financial and operational datasets from SAP, Snowflake, and other systems.
Implement automation solutions to enhance productivity, reduce manual workloads, and improve reporting quality using tools like Alteryx and Power BI.
Identify opportunities to automate repetitive financial tasks and develop, maintain, and enhance financial dashboards and performance metrics.
Support & Audit:
Respond to inquiries from executives and department management, providing data-backed insights.
Provide comprehensive information to Internal and External Audit functions, ensuring that all required documentation is accurate and complete.
Blackline/SAP:
Serve as the primary Blackline Administrator, ensuring efficient financial close processes through system configurations, upgrades, and user training.
Support process improvement initiatives to streamline financial close activities within Blackline.
Manage accounting data within SAP (cost centers, account structure, and hierarchy) to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with corporate policies.
Assist in managing project tickets related to system enhancements, ensuring SAP changes are documented and tested.
Support SAP system upgrades, enhancements, troubleshooting, and financial data governance to ensure accurate reporting and minimize data inconsistencies.
Required Qualifications
Experience:
3+ years of experience in Accounting, Financial Analysis, Accounting Analytics, or Accounting Systems.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.
Professional Certifications:
CPA certification preferred
Certification in data analytics and/or tools (e.g., Alteryx, Blackline, Power BI, SQL) is a strong plus.
Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities
Proficiency in data analytics and financial modeling skills, with familiarity using tools like Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Automate, Power BI, etc), Snowflake, Business Objects, and Alteryx.
Basic proficiency in SAP, particularly with SAP accounting system management.
Understanding of Blackline administration, including system configuration and process automation.
Basic project management skills, with the ability to manage an initiative.
Strong communication skills to lead meetings and explain financial and data concepts to diverse stakeholders.
Self-motivated, with the ability to proactively identify issues and support teams in developing and implementing effective solutions.
Ability to establish procedures for newly developed processes.
