This role offers tremendous career growth opportunities, a flexible remote work schedule, ongoing professional development, and a rewarding work environment.Position Summary:As a Mechanical Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and performing commissioning activities for mechanical systems in mission-critical facilities, including data centers and other large-scale buildings. You will play a vital role in ensuring that mechanical systems are installed, tested, and fully operational in compliance with all project specifications. With limited supervision, youll lead commissioning projects, coordinate with teams, and develop commissioning plans and documentation.Key Responsibilities: Mechanical Systems Commissioning: Commission a variety of mechanical systems, including chilled water systems, air distribution systems, AC systems, building controls systems, and glycol-based systems. Design and Submittal Reviews: Perform thorough commissioning design reviews and submittal reviews to ensure alignment with project specifications. Documentation: Develop and execute commissioning forms, scripts, and procedures, including pre-functional, functional, and integrated systems commissioning scripts. Project Management: Lead or support the commissioning of mechanical systems on moderately complex projects. Maintain project schedules, track issues, and ensure tasks are completed on time. Client and Team Communication: Provide regular updates to clients, team members, and stakeholders on commissioning progress. Cultivate strong, ongoing client relationships. Final Reporting: Assemble final commissioning reports and documentation, ensuring all issues and resolutions are clearly communicated. Safety and Compliance: Operate safely in a construction environment and ensure compliance with safety standards during commissioning activities. Leadership and Mentorship: Lead small to mid-sized commissioning projects and mentor junior engineers in commissioning processes.Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications: Education: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or related field.
OR Graduate of an applicable Commissioning Technical Training program with a minimum of two years of relevant work experience. OR High school diploma or equivalent and at least five years of similar commissioning experience.
Experience: At least 5 commissioning projects that span the Design, Construction, and Acceptance phases of a project. Technical Skills:
Knowledge and understanding of building mechanical systems, chilled water systems, air distribution systems, AC systems, and building controls systems. Experience with commissioning procedures, including testing, documentation, and reporting. Ability to understand complex contract documents and system specifications.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and move up to 25 lbs regularly and occasionally lift up to 100 lbs. Ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.Preferred Qualifications: Certifications:
ASHRAE Commissioning Standards knowledge or Commissioning certifications (e.g., CxA, LEED AP) are highly desirable. LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) or knowledge of the LEED certification process for new and existing buildings is preferred.
Project Management Experience: Proven experience planning, scheduling, and managing commissioning projects, with a focus on delivering projects on time and under budget. Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with clients, contractors, and team members.
