JOB SUMMARY

Manage a living unit for female youth, ensuring the culture is consistent with trauma-sensitive, family-focused, community-based, and best practice principles. Responsible for coaching and developing youth care staff, ensuring they are engaged and aligned with Lad Lake policies and procedures. Ensure staffing ratios, the safety of residents, and physical conditions meet state licensing regulations and budget parameters. Case Management responsibilities include scheduling coverage for court hearings, internal and external treatment meetings, report writing, and serving as the primary contact for external team representatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Unit Responsibilities

Responsible for all unit budgets (personnel costs, recreation, clothing, chore wages, etc.) and routinely monitoring and verifying that the unit is within budget.Responsible for working closely with the Unit Therapist, Case Manager, Lead Staff, and Assistant Director of Therapeutic Miliu to ensure Trauma-Informed Care principles are taught, modeled, and practiced by staff members as a behavior management model of the unit.Prepare for and facilitate weekly unit staff meetings. Schedule the training component of the meeting.Assist in maintaining central records as defined to comply with Lad Lake, Inc., licensing, and Counsel on Accreditation (COA) standards.Be available to oversee and approve confinement use to ensure established guidelines are met.Provide staff training as requested by the Assistant Director of Therapeutic Milieu, the Director of Residential Services, and the Human Resources department.Responsible for meeting with Lead Staff weekly to ensure consistency in expectations and procedures.Ensure the unit activity schedule, including recreation, educational, and therapeutic groups, is completed weekly and adhered to.Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Supervision Responsibilities

Responsible with the Lead Staff and Unit Therapist for forming a cohesive team consistent with policies, discipline, and recognition.Maintain a caring atmosphere within the team.Seek and maintain a positive approach to treatment.Responsible for scheduling the unit staff, ensuring all shifts are covered adequately, and covering them if a Youth Care Worker cannot be found in emergencies.Ensure all Treatment Technicians receive the training required by state licensing and Lad Lake in the required time frame. This training should also enable them to function appropriately on the job, which could include but is not limited to, day-to-day unit operations, behavior management, and group management training.Monthly Coaching of your Treatment Technicians with the assistance of the Lead Staff.Facilitate regular coaching sessions with direct reports and documents using the Lad Lake format.In consultation with the Assistant Director of Therapeutic Miliu, recommend hiring, recognition, discipline, and termination of staff to the Human Resources Department.Promote positive team relationships with all departments and programs at Lad Lake.They must carry a cell phone and are expected to be accessible 24/7.Responsible for working with the Lead Staff to ensure we have a trauma-sensitive enriched environment for our youth and staff to live in.Ensure that performance management, risk reduction, quality improvement, and contract or regulatory compliance are managed using an inclusive and data-driven focus that sets priorities for improvements aligned with ongoing strategic initiatives and has a measurable impact on outcomes.

Responsibilities to Residents

We meet with resident groups weekly to discuss unit rules, the point system, restitution, rewards, privileges, the staff-resident relationship, unit recreation, and school progress.Attend evaluation conferences and take part in unit intakes and discharge staffing.Coordinate with the therapists, case managers, lead staff, and treatment technicians to implement the residents' treatment plan.Ensure independent living skills are being taught to all residents.Ensure Workforce Development opportunities are available to eligible residents.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

Education/Experience: Must meet one of the following qualifications: A bachelor's or master's degree (preferred) in social work, sociology, psychology, or related field, or special education with certification for emotional disturbance or learning disabilities and experience which is specifically related to the client population being served. Also, at least 2 years of supervision experience, be certified as a Professional Level Youth Care Worker through the Child and Youth Care Certification Institute or get certified in the first 6 months of employment. Must have a valid driver's license and a good driving record.

Skills: Ability to prioritize work; ability to supervise and manage staff effectively; demonstrated analytical skills; and proficiency in interpersonal relations and communication with direct reports, direct supervisor, colleagues, Lad Lake Senior Leadership, and other individuals inside and outside the agency.
