Project Overview:
Thacker Pass is the largest known lithium resource in the United States. Once complete, the mine and processing facilities will produce more lithium carbonate than any other facility in the United States by far - enough to power 1 million electric vehicles per year.
As the EPCM contractor for Lithium Americas, Bechtel is responsible for managing and integrating the efforts of a team contractors engineering and building the facility. We are also managing procurement of about $1 Billion in goods and services.
Earth work began in 2023 and design and procurement of long-lead equipment is underway.
The project is located in the high desert and wide-open spaces of north-central Nevada about 25 miles from the Oregon border, 1 hour northwest of Winnemucca, Nevada and 3 hours northeast of Reno.
Planned with sustainability and the environment in mind, the facility will use its excess process heat to generate electricity and will recycle process water up to seven times. Once the second phase of the project is complete, Thacker Pass will produce more than 16 times the current U.S. output of lithium.

Job Summary:
In this role, you will lead a team and supervise superintendents and/or craft professionals on a project. You will direct craft professional activities and work schedules, and coordinate subcontract work activities and team development. Your oversight will ensure craft professionals have the tools required to be productive, comply with project policies, procedures, and job site work rules and procedures, and perform within specifications, schedules and budgets.
Major Responsibilities:
Leadership / Supervision (Supervision of discipline and lead superintendents with 100+ craft)
Proactively engages with their team's development through CPM, Competency development/assessment and feedbackSupervises and directs craft activities, subordinate superintendents, and others, as assigned.Planning / Productivity
Determines workforce requirements.Prepares reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditures forecast.Tools, Materials & Equipment
Monitors tool and equipment usage on the site.Prepares Field Material Requisitions for tools and consumables and ensures that the crafts have the tools they require to be productive.Safety & Quality
Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors' performance are in compliance with specifications Responsible for the implementation of corporate/project policies, procedures, and instructions within assigned operations.Monitors work activities and ensures the quality of work performed.Technical
Works with Construction Field Engineers, Foremen, and Craft Professionals, in interpreting Engineering design documents, vendor documents, and other technical documentsCoordinates engineering solutions with Subcontractors, and Foremen and Craft Professionals.
Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and 13-15 years of relevant experience or 17-19 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Knowledge of all phases of construction operations relating to field activities of all disciplines, all construction technologies and job-site management.Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment.Knowledge and understanding of the application and requirements of the Project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Handbook and the Bechtel Core ProcessesKnowledge of Bechtel's "Zero Accidents" safety program.Knowledge of project-specific environmental compliance requirements and general awareness of environmental laws.Knowledge of government compliance standards.Heavy industrial US direct hire construction experienceKnowledge of local labor laws and issues.Knowledge of manual craft timekeeping, word processing, spreadsheet and other standard applications in accordance with current Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards.Knowledge of project and Bechtel Quality Assurance program.Working knowledge of Standard Work Process Procedures (SWPPs)Prior US Mega-Project experience
