QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or equivalentMinnesota Class B Commercial Driver's LicenseNo more than three (3) moving violations within three (3) yearsAbility to obtain DOT PhysicalPOSITION SUMMARY:

The school van operator is responsible for safe transportation of District 742 students.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Demonstrate ability to safely operate a school van owned and operated by District 742Demonstrate competency in each of the following areas as required by state law:Safely operate the type of school van the driver will be drivingUnderstand student behavior, including issues relating to students with disabilitiesEncourage orderly conduct of students on the van and handle incidents of misconduct appropriatelyKnow and understand relevant laws, rules of the road, and local school bus safety policiesSafely load and unload studentsAttend meetings with transportation, school administrators, and the public when necessaryComplete student incident reports when applicableMaintain fuel and mileage log sheets, pre-trip forms and any other required formsVerifies route sheets for accuracy and make relevant recommendations to appropriate supervisorClean inside/outside of van when necessaryAttend all safety and informational meetings required by the DistrictMaintain current first aid certification, provided by the DistrictDisplaying the level of professionalism as expected by District 742Other duties as assigned
