Community Investment Officer (SCIO)

located in New York, NY to join our Community Investment (CI) Team.

Why we need you:CSH is seeking a results-oriented individual committed to racial equity, advancing anti-racism practices, and sharing their talent to support a mission-driven organization that leads efforts to expand housing and service solutions for highly impacted populations. To advance the work of our Community Investment Team, we need yourexpertise to originate loans for multi-family housing developments that includesupportive housing throughout the New York market. As a lender, you will alsoprovide technical assistance to our government and other partners to shapefunding policies and housing production efforts to create stronger governmentalsystems that expedite the creation of supportive housing.

What you will do:

Candidates for a SCIO role willdemonstrate sufficient experience and technical depth to strategically pursue,lead, and drive programmatic and lending goals independently with minimalsupervision . You will:

Co-Develop andlead our lending strategy with the other Senior Community InvestmentOfficer across the New York market.MarketCSH's loan products and expertise, while cultivating a robust lendingpipeline.Managerelationships with borrowers in New York from intake through loanrepayment.Partner with theother Senior Community Investment Officer and Metro Region Program Teams toidentify lending opportunities resulting from programmatic activities,while also contributing to the Team's efforts to expand and streamlinesupportive housing funding programs.Providefeedback on policies and financing systems where systems change canprovide more streamlined and quality supportive housing pipelines.With the supportof the Director of Loan Originations and Chief Lending Officer, supportthe creation of new sources of funding for supportive housing pipelines.Cultivateand maintain strong relationships with industry partners, includinggovernment agencies, banks, foundations, CDFI partners, and supportivehousing developers and service providers.Establishand nurture relationships with borrowers, including gathering feedback onnew strategies and barriers to create affordable and supportive housing.Originatenew loans, analyzing the feasibility of multi-family affordable housingdevelopments, and the capacity of development teams.Proposeloan structures and terms that meet borrower needs, comply with our creditpolicies, and advance our strategic priorities.Underwriteloans based on thorough review and analysis, comprehensive due diligenceand sound risk assessment, and present loans for approval to our internaland board credit committees.Supportloan closing staff and loan servicing staff with loan closings and loanmonitoring.Providetechnical assistance to nonprofit, for-profit, and public organizationsaround the financing, creation, and operation of supportive housing,including trainings and represent the organization at conferences andevents.Center race equity in all of your work with bothinternal and external partners.This position is based in New York, NY andrequires the ability to travel across the state. Occasional national travel maybe required.

Minimumof 7 years' experience in affordable or supportive housing lending ordevelopment.Deep expertise in affordable orsupportive housing development or finance.Completeda Bachelor degree program. CSH recognizes all forms of knowledge, soadditional education or education through lived or work experience is alsorecognized.Asolid grasp of the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit program, Section 8 andother federal, state and local affordable and supportive housing financeprograms.Familiarityof zoning processes and other land acquisition challenges for affordableand supportive housing developers.Aninterest in issues related to supportive housing, including homelessness,affordable housing development, public finance, public housing, communitydevelopment/planning, or support service programs that address mentalillness or substance use issues.Demonstratedsuccess in project management, including creating work plans and buildingteams to advance housing development and finance-related activities thatadvance CSH's goals.Stronganalytical, interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills with anability to present to racially, ethnically, and socially diversestakeholders.Anunderstanding of institutional/structural racism and bias and their impacton underrepresented communities.Experienceincorporating the perspectives of multiple communities, includingcommunities of color, in the consideration of impacts and outcomes of adecision-making process.Candidates seeking to work hybrid must providetheir own access to a secure high-speed internet signal (preferablyhard-wired) at a capacity sufficient to support video, web, and emailprocessing simultaneously based on their personal work environment. Thisis typically 100Mb and above.

Compensation:CSH offers generous benefits, opportunities for professional growth, and competitive salaries based on geographic location. Our range for this position in New York is $136,000 - $170,000. Our ranges are broad, and it is customary for candidates to join CSH at the lower half of the range to leave room for growth, learning, and development in the role and range. It is uncommon for starting salaries to fall above the mid-point. We negotiate actual salaries with final candidates based on their exact location, experience in similar roles, and expertise related to the qualifications.
