Human Resources Generalist
Position Summary:The Human Resources Generalist assists with the assessment, development, and implementation of organizational programs, policies, and procedures. The HR Generalist role encompasses various HR functions with a strong focus on training and development, employee engagement, benefits and compliance. This position reports to the Director of Human Resources and is based in the Carlsbad office in a hybrid capacity.
Essential Responsibilities:
Training and Development:
Collaborate with HR and leaders to determine training and development needsDesign, develop, and implement learning and development programs tailored to meet organization needsConduct training needs assessments to identify skill gaps and areas for employee developmentFacilitate engaging training sessions and workshops for employees across various departmentsCollaborate with department heads to align training initiatives with business goals and objectivesEvaluate the effectiveness of training programs through feedback, assessments, and performance metricsMaintain and update training materials and resources to ensure they reflect current industry standards and practicesCoordinate with external training vendors and consultants as neededEnsure compliance with all relevant employment and training regulationsBenefits and Compensation:
Assist with benefit design and open enrollment processAdminister employee benefits and maintain records for: medical, dental, COBRA, workers' compensation, disability insurance, life insurance, and 401(k) PlanProcess new hire paperwork and benefit enrollment in the benefits portalFacilitate open enrollment meetingsProcess new hires benefits enrollments and reconciles/processes all insurance billingsReconcile monthly benefit bills with payrollAdminister sound compensation practices, with respect to compliance and equityParticipate in benchmark surveysCompliance:
Manage internal and external auditsPrepare and analyze required reportsHandle all Leaves of AbsencesEnsure receipt and maintain I-9 identificationEnsure HIPAA compliance and maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and company informationPerformance Management and Employee Relations:
Provide coaching and support to employeesAddress in-office employee relations issues and performance concerns as they ariseAssist in building a positive office culture through organizing events and activitiesRecruiting and On-boarding:
Assist with full-cycle recruitment: maintain applicant tracking, screen resumes, schedule interviews, and coordinate applicant/new hire correspondenceSupport on-site interviews and help create a welcoming environment for candidatesPartner with hiring manager to prepare offersProcess background checks, reference checks, and pre-hire paperworkFacilitate orientation and on-boarding processesTrack and report recruiting and on-boarding activity dataOther duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Education, Business Administration, or a related fieldMinimum of 3 years of experience in learning and development or human resourcesProficiency in Learning Management Systems (LMS) and e-learning platformsStrong facilitation and presentation skillsKnowledge of adult learning principlesPHR® or SHRM-CP certification preferredWorking knowledge of HR-related laws/regulations to include FMLA, FLSA, ERISAProficiency with Microsoft Office suiteSelf-motivated with the ability to operate independently, work proactively, and achieve results without supervisionAbility to calculate figures and amounts such as compensation rates, benefits payments, payroll totals, etc.Ability to work with sensitive information in a confidential mannerCritical thinker/problem solver who has analytical ability and sound judgmentInvestment or Financial Services industry experience preferred
