The Program Administrator for ABE serves as an instructional coach and integral member of the SCALE leadership team

Qualifications

:Possession of a Master's Degree in Education, Administration, or other related fieldA minimum of five years successful teaching experience in adult educationExperience teaching low-level ELL and/or ELL literacy classesDemonstrated experience in curriculum developmentDemonstrated experience in grant writingExperience with DESE ACLS guidelines and LACES systemExcellent computer skills, including facility with MS ExcelExcellent organizational skillsExcellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skillsExperience with and commitment to working with students and staff of diverse backgroundsThree years of experience as a supervisor or administrator is preferredMassachusetts DESE license or ABE license is preferredFluency in Spanish, Portuguese, and/or Haitian Creole is preferredCertification as a MAPT, STAR, or HISET assessor is preferredResponsibilities include

:

Curriculum development in compliance with DESE adult education guidelines and requirementsEnsures that SCALE's ABE curriculum is aligned to the CCRSAE and supported by the standards and benchmarks of the ELA Curriculum FrameworkIdentity professional development needs and coordinate professional development activities to meet ABE staff development goalsCollaboration with ELL Program Administrator, HISET Chief Examiner, ADP Assessor and SHS Guidance department on programmatic issues and interdepartmental referralsDevelop and oversee distance, online, mobile and remote learning programs for working adult learners.Provide professional support in areas of beginning to intermediate ELL literacy and instruction to GOAL staff and studentsDevelop integrated education and training strategic plan in collaboration with Director of Continuing Education and ELL Program administrator for students enrolled in both departmentsServe as the Technology Integration and Assistive Technology coordinator working collaboratively to increase the digital literacy and accessibility needs of staff and students.Maintains compliance with SPS district hiring practices including screening, interviewing, and recommending candidates for hire.Oversee ABE staff (departmental teachers, counselors, computer operators, aides, and tutors) and provide orientation, scheduling, training, support, and supervisionEvaluate part-time and full-time ABE departmental staffSupervision of required DESE assessments including administration of individual and small groups assessments as neededProduction and maintenance of annual assessment report for all ABE students in collaboration with LACES data admin.Manage department budgets, invoices, and reports to funding sourcesDetermine and order instructional books, software, and other materials and suppliesOversee student intake, orientation, scheduling, and placement of studentsCoordinate intra- and interdepartmental meetings, communications, and other activities relevant to department interests and needsInitiate, write, negotiate, implement, and monitor proposals, grants (including local, community, state, and federal grants), and contractsAct as a representative of SCALE with local agencies, statewide professional organizations, and fundersAttend conferences, workshops, and other professional meetings and forumsPerform other duties as designated by the Director of Continuing Education.Terms of Employment
