Satellite Network Operations Center Engineer[Contract Length] 1 year, possible extension[Location] Cary, NC

IntroductionJoin our team as a Satellite Network Operations Center Engineer, where you'll play a critical role in maintaining and supporting complex satellite communication systems in a dynamic 24/7 environment. This role involves proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and direct customer support to ensure optimal network performance. Flexibility is essential, as work will include all shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Candidates must legally be able to support servers hosting government and legal entities.
ResponsibilitiesAs a Satellite Network Operations Center Engineer, you will:Monitor and triage satellite network operations in a Tier I capacity, identifying and resolving anomalies and faults.Operate and align antennas, perform cross-polarization (x-pol) tests, and conduct maintenance on satellite communication equipment and associated devices.Provide technical assistance to field technicians, vendors, and operations center personnel for satellite system maintenance.Respond to network alarms, perform initial troubleshooting, and create trouble tickets for outages.Isolate circuit issues using Telecommunication tools, Telco local loops, and customer wiring systems.Test and repair hardware in WAN/LAN environments and coordinate vendor dispatches for onsite repairs.Communicate with customers via phone, email, and ticket notes, providing timely status updates and resolutions.Ensure network reliability to meet predefined service levels.QualificationsWe're looking for candidates with:
Experience:
3-7 years of satellite and IP networking experience (military satellite experience preferred).Familiarity with satellite systems such as iDirect, ViaSat, or VSAT certification.Experience with Cisco/Juniper routers and switches and multicast over MPLS networks.
Certifications:
Cisco/Juniper Certification is highly desirable.Skills:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Flexibility:
Availability to work across all shifts, including weekends and holidays, in a 24/7 environment.
