The museum was established by a generous gift of 121 works from the private collection of Harry W. and Mary Margaret Anderson and Mary Patricia Anderson Pence. The collection has expanded with gifts of paintings, sculptures, and works on paper. Highlights include works by Helen Frankenthaler, Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, Agnes Martin, and Willem De Kooning. The Anderson Collection at Stanford University is a place of creative engagement, community programming, and active learning that explores the connections between art and life. The museum preserves and presents modern and contemporary American art, offering exhibitions and direct experiences with art and artists for the academic community and wider public.Job purposeThe Education and Public Programs Coordinator manages planning, logistics, and coordination of museum educational events and programs. Responsibilities include planning and facilitating Second Sundays, the museum’s monthly family day, interpretive educational materials throughout the museum, and providing hands-on support for programs and events. The Coordinator will also manage the programs calendar and public program logistics.This position is under the direction of the Anderson Collection Director of Programming and Engagement and will work closely with the Anderson Collection Visitor Services Coordinator and the entire museum staff.Work with Director of Programming and Engagement to create themes and projects for Second Sundays, educational materials for spaces within the museum based on the museum’s collection and current exhibitions, and research for upcoming programs. Work closely with the Director Programming to develop, coordinate, and support the logistics of these programs.Serve as a resource regarding a defined set of policies and procedures.Perform duties associated with scheduling, organizing, and operating conferences, seminars, and events, including recommending vendors for services, overseeing the production and distribution of materials, coordinating logistics, and serving as liaison with internal and external vendors.Draft and/or generate routine communications; coordinate production (formatting, copying, etc.) and dissemination of documents and materials such as art supplies, presentations, brochures, and displays.Maintain office supplies and equipment as needed.Minimum QualificationsEducation & ExperienceCollege diploma and three years of administrative experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.Proficient computer skills and demonstrated experience with office software and email applications.Demonstrated success in following through and completing routine tasks.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.Ability to prioritize and multi-task.Physical RequirementsConstantly perform desk-based computer tasks.Frequently sitting.Occasionally stand/walk, reach/work above shoulders, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, use a telephone, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.Rarely twist/bend/stoop/squat, kneel/crawl.* – Consistent with its obligations under the law, the University will provide reasonable accommodation to any employee with a disability who requires accommodation to perform the essential functions of the job.Working ConditionsMust be available to work one weekend day and some evenings.Work StandardsInterpersonal Skills: Demonstrates the ability to work well with Stanford colleagues and clients and with external organizations.Promote Culture of Safety: Demonstrates commitment to personal responsibility and value for safety; communicates safety concerns; uses and promotes safe behaviors based on training and lessons learned.Subject to and expected to comply with all applicable University policies and procedures, including but not limited to the personnel policies and other policies found in the University’s Administrative Guide,
