The Manager, Corporate Affairs, Media Relations will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operations of our dynamic media relations team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a hard-working team, harnessing your operational expertise to support Amgen’s biggest news. To achieve their goals, the Manager will collaborate with numerous internal cross-functional teams, agency partners, and vendors.This position reports directly to the Executive Director, Corporate Affairs, Enterprise Media Relations, operating as a self-starter while working on a collaborative and impactful four-member team. This position can sit remotely in the U.S. and does not need to be based in Thousand Oaks, CA.In this role, you will need to:Support the global media relations team in day-to-day operations, ensuring smooth functioning and coordination of activitiesSupervise Corporate Affairs material review process and system to ensure compliance with company standards and regulations, including maintaining training programDistribution of all Amgen global press releasesPrepare media monitoring comprehensive reports around key company newsManage contracts and relationships with enterprise media vendors; assess and recommend new vendors and opportunities for considerationManage enterprise sponsorshipsWork closely with a wide variety of teams within Corporate Affairs and cross-functionallyLead enterprise media relations metrics reportingDevelopment of executive briefing materials as neededManage media team budget, purchase orders, and invoicesIdentify and assess emerging industry trends, earned media outlets, and communication technologies to ensure Amgen remains at the forefront of media relations best practicesDirect public relations agency partners to assure maximum impact and assistance in achieving communications goals and objectivesMaintain and regularly update media team's journalist databaseHave established relationships with reporters and understanding the basics of media pitching and engagementWhat we expect of youWe are all different, yet we all use our unique contributions to serve patients. The professional we seek has these qualifications.Basic Qualifications:Doctorate DegreeOrMaster’s degree and 2 years of public relations, communications, or journalism experienceOrBachelor’s degree and 4 years of public relations, communications, or journalism experienceOrAssociates degree and 8 years of public relations, communication, or journalism experienceOrHigh school diploma/GED and 10 years of public relations, communications, or journalism experiencePreferred Qualifications:5+ experience within public relations and/or communicationsClose attention to detail, collaborative spirit, and commitment to operational excellenceExcellent interpersonal skills; enthusiastic teammate and self-starter; serious commitment to hard work and excellenceBiotechnology and/or pharmaceutical communications experienceExcellent consulting, writing, editing, presentation, and communication skillsWorking knowledge of healthcare journalists and outletsFamiliarity with media monitoring and analytics tools and platformsAbility to interface professionally with corporate leaders and managersExperience working at or managing public relations agency partners and vendor relationshipsAbility to think quickly, analytically, and creatively to accommodate a dynamic environmentWhat you can expect from usAs we work to develop treatments that take care of others, we also work to care for your professional and personal growth and well-being.
