Applied R&D (AR) consists of target-oriented research either with the goal of solving a particular problem / answering a specific question or for multi-discipline design, development, and implementation of hardware, software, and systems including maintenance support. Supplies techno-economic consulting to clients. AR work is characterised by its detailed and complex nature in order to systematically combine existing knowledge and practices to further developing and incrementally improving products, operational processes, and customer-specific feature development.

Subfamily Description

Software (SWA) comprises the definition, specification, and allocation of requirements from different sources utilising knowledge of systems engineering processes (specification & architecture). Contains processing of use case and feature requirements into conceptual models, operational scenarios, technical requirements, and functional description. Covers specification, design, implementation, and unit testing of Software (e.g. device drivers, microcode, hardware-related software & firmware) according to the requirements and architecture defined in the systems engineering process. Covers establishment and maintenance of Software Configuration Management (SCM) practices into software development projects, continuously building and integrating infrastructure tools and systems.

Responsibilities

Perform development activities of medium/high complexity features. Create design specs - basic/small scope/less complex. Support peers in completing tasks within own area(s) of expertise. Lead technical discussions with peers for resolving identified issues in own area(s) of expertise. Improves existing processes & solutions. Owns small/medium features.

Required Skills

You have:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science or similar field3-5 yrs software development and engineering experience.Ability to lead technical discussions and decisionsStrong communication skills, technical abilities, personal and project management skills are desired.2+ years of embedded systems development in C/C++Strong knowledge in multithreading programming.Hands-on experience on switching/routing system software development.Hands on experience with software development on LinuxStrong communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills are essential

Preferred Qualifications:

IP network fundamentals, including network architecture, routing and signaling protocols.Advanced operating system fundamentals, including kernel operations, scheduling, memory management, semaphoresKnowledge of Real Time Operating systems (RTOS) like VxWorks is a plus.Experience with virtualization technologies, Dockers/Containers, Namespaces, etc.Experience in designing and developing programmable management interfaces using gNMI, NETCONF, MD-CLI.Excellent debugging skills and experience using various software and memory debugging toolsProtocol development preferably, wireless experience, such as development on 5G/4G/3G nodes, using HTTP2 and JSON,
