In the race for the future of health - The Sanofi mRNA Center of Excellence (CoE)

At Sanofi, we chase the miracles of science, and we know mRNA has a role to play in the future of health. And while the pandemic has shaken up our industry, creating new opportunities and risks, we believe the acceleration of innovation with mRNA technology means vaccines and treatments for more people faster than before.

That's why we're looking for bold, optimistic world-changers to join our mRNA Center of Excellence. We're investing €400m a year into the new Center, hiring a team of 450 dedicated employees, and focusing on implementing an integrated end-to-end mRNA vaccine capabilities and research with R&D, digital and CMC teams.

Bring your ambition and optimism and join us on our journey to discover and deliver transformative medicine to patients through the advancement of our cutting-edge mRNA technology!

About The Job

The Data and Computational Sciences team brings end-to-end data integration and advanced analytics (pre-clinical, biomarkers, process development, CMC, clinical) to the mRNA Center of Excellence. We are responsible for developing, deploying and exploiting digital solutions (AI/machine learning, data, analytics) to integrate the full data value chain, extracting actionable information for a move to a full data driven strategy and decision-making process, to increase probability of success and accelerate mRNA vaccines and therapeutics development and launch.

Main responsibilities:

As a

mRNA Computational Biologist

you will collaborate with scientific and technical experts within the mRNA Center of Excellence, bringing practical knowledge and experience in applying bioinformatics, statistical and computational methods to preclinical and translational research data to identify predictive biomarkers, characterize mechanism of action and develop predictive models for mRNA vaccines and therapeutics.

In this position, you will:Design, develop and validate robust solutions and pipelines leveraging bioinformatics, statistical models, multivariate analysis etc. for both preclinical and translational dataExplore and analyze complex, multi-modal data to understand mode of action, identify predictive biomarkers and to drive mRNA vaccine research and developmentDevelop and evaluate predictive models using a range of machine learning methods to biological problems, with an emphasis on predicting clinical outcomes from preclinical studiesPerform exploratory data analysis, hypothesis generation and validation through data integration, advanced analytics, and visualization of mRNA vaccine design parameters, high dimensional immunological, multi-omics and pre-clinical and clinical data (e.g. immunogenicity, reactogenicity)Bring broad knowledge and expertise in statistics, data science, machine learning and modeling to project and mRNA platform teamsProactively identify, assess, and internalize emerging technologies and methodsPrepare and publish scientific papers and congress reportsGenerate IP and participate in the drafting of patent filings

About YouPhD in Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Data and Computer Sciences, Systems Immunology, Computational Biology or equivalentIn depth theoretical and practical understanding of statistical analysis, multi-variate analysis, clustering & dimension reduction approaches, regression methods, and other machine learning techniquesDemonstrated experience delivering solutions based on machine learning, bioinformatic & statistical methods relevant to the large scale analysis of complex healthcare and life sciences dataProficient in scientific programming languages (R and/or Python)Strong combination of theoretical knowledge, analytical and critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skillsHighly collaborative mindset & passionate communicator who is able to clearly and effectively articulate progress & complex solutions to scientific researchers and stakeholdersUnderstanding of vaccine discovery and development processes is a plus, as well as familiarity with RNA biology and RNA-centric techniques/methodsFluent in English

About your development opportunities

In this role, you will be part of a unique team bridging the gap between preclinical research and clinical outcomes and directly contribute to the understanding and advancement of Sanofi's mRNA platform for the treatment and prevention of disease. You'll be faced with interesting challenges in a supportive atmosphere, and you'll have the opportunity to hone your skills and expertise as a computational biologist delivering impactful and actionable solutions to the organization.
