Two (2) years of full-time experience in higher education. Experience in student conduct or student affairs working with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students. Working knowledge of state/federal laws (i.e. FERPA, Clery Act, Title IX and other higher education federal and state mandates). Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps, and/or database systems.Master’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Criminal Justice or related field. Experience with student conduct processes, including investigations and adjudicating student conduct cases. Experience presenting training sessions, managing projects, responding to student issues, and making appropriate referrals are desired. Experience with a student conduct database system.Responsibilities:Student Conduct & Community StandardsServe as a student conduct officer for assigned student conduct cases.Process complaints and referrals of alleged violations of the Code of Student Responsibility.Maintain confidential case files, including archiving and destruction of files in accordance with SUNY and University guidelines.Assist in Title IX/Sexual Misconduct case management, investigations and hearings as needed.Assessment, Education and Policy DevelopmentAssist in creating and performing annual assessment activities.Assist in educational outreach and training initiatives.Participate in the annual Code revision process.Administrative ResponsibilitiesMonitor office email accounts and troubleshoot/respond to problems/inquiries.Assist with processing Student Conduct checks and serve as a representative of SCCS.Crisis InterventionRespond to urgent and emergency situations involving students.Communicate with and refer students to the CARE Team, University Police, Campus Residences, and Student Support Team as needed.Professional Development and Committee Involvement:Participate in opportunities that promote learning and growth.Contribute to the Division of Student Affairs and Stony Brook University by attending and/or supporting events.Other duties or projects as assigned.Evening and weekend work may be required.Special Notes:
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Non Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. In addition to the employee's base salary, this position is eligible for $3,400 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
