Senior Backend Engineer

DescriptionMaxwood Overview:Maxwood Furniture is a rapidly growing design, import, and distribution company with a selection of nationally renowned furniture brands. Since launching over two decades ago, we have grown to manufacture several distinct product lines that we sell across a variety of platforms and popular retailers including Amazon, Wayfair, Overstock, Rooms to Go, and Target.We are seeking a new member to add to our In House Development Team team. You will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining the technology used to support advanced features for our Shopify websites, product management tools, order management tools, etc. As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing advanced features, refactoring code, mentoring junior engineers, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality products. Are you ready to be a part of something amazing?RequirementsResponsibilities:Implement Advanced Software Features: Design, develop, and implement complex and critical software features, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability.Refactor and Improve Code Bases: Continuously refactor and optimize existing codebases to enhance code quality, maintainability, and performance.Mentor and Guide Juniors: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering their professional development and technical skills.Perform Code Reviews: Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and maintainability.Participate in Cross-Team Collaboration: Actively participate in meetings and discussions to align cross-team technical decisions and ensure effective collaboration.Take Ownership of Projects: Take ownership of key features or entire projects, driving their successful completion within deadlines and meeting quality standards.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.Hands-on experience in backend development, with a strong focus on web technologies.Proficiency in relevant programming languages, e.g., Python, Ruby, Java, Node.js.Deep understanding of backend development principles, including data structures, algorithms, and design patterns.Experience with relevant frameworks and libraries, e.g., Django, Rails, Spring, Express.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Passion for staying up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in backend development.Bonus Points:Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).Contributions to open-source projects.Experience with microservices architecture and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools.
