The role is responsible for leading the health, safety and environmental program, development, execution and continuous improvement for all Bilfinger entities in North America. The primary purpose is to implement solutions to maximize employee well-being and prevent injuries.Role & Responsibilities
SAFETY & COMPLIANCE:
Maintains highest standards of Corporate governance & ensures all activities are performed ethically and in compliance with Company standards, relevant laws, regulations and industry standards.Supervisors and Managers must demonstrate effective safety leadership for all Company staff, employees and any persons visiting them whilst on Company or client premises.QUALITY:
Responsible for being familiar with Company Quality policies & procedures and to follow them at all times.Reinforces importance of service quality at all times when engaging with employees.Seeks and drives ownership of continuous improvement in all areas of responsibility.OPERATIONS:
Responsible for all aspects of HSE, including OSHA, HSE record keeping, safety audits, accident investigations, KPI measurement and reporting & identifying workplace hazards.Supports the development and execution of HSE strategy in alignment with Corporate and leads its implementation across the Region.Creates and maintains common HSE policies and procedures, HSE manual and intranet site to deliver consistency in content and application.Develops, implements and evaluates programs and procedures across all Company locations that enhance HSE awareness.Identifies and implements technological improvements to improve safety awareness and performance.Perform regular on-site HSEQ audits, documenting findings and recommended actions and conducting follow-on inspections for corrective actions.Directs emergency response action planning in collaboration with Operations leadership.Oversees investigations into HSE events, occasionally may lead, determining root cause analysis and development of corrective actions including subsequent training/coaching.Recommends and implements new safety devices/equipment to help maximize safety of all personnel.Identifies necessary HSE communication campaigns to be implemented at site(s) and/or office locations.Collaborates with individual locations to identify, develop, implement and measure short and long-term HSE campaigns.FINANCIAL:
Responsible for effectively managing functional budget and their own and teams T&E expenses.Collaborates with management to manage, monitor and reduce Workers Compensation cases.Costs incurred must be within budget, processed accordingly and follow relevant policy & procedure.COMMUNICATION:
Communicates Corporate and Regional HSE initiatives across all entities.Interacts with clients with regard to HSE in behalf of Company or supporting Operations leadership.Actively engages with all work sites to develop and maintain a culture where workplace safety is of primary focus.Collates, analyses and reports relevant HSE data to Region and Corporate Management.Maintains effective communication strategy and methods across all locations.PEOPLE & DEVELOPMENT:
Leads identification and development of any necessary HSE training and education material/programs to support HSE culture and improve performance.Supports and actively promotes Company’s program of performance management and coaching opportunities including but not limited to: Performance management, succession planning, talent assessments.Supervisors and Managers should collaborate with Human Resources & Training and Development to drive strategies for the recruitment and retention of key personnel and to foster an environment that supports the attraction and retention of a high performing talented workforce.Experience & Education
REQUIREDBachelors degree in HSE or related field with 15+ years of relevant HSE experience in an Industrial Services/Construction environment.Experience in establishing successful safety programs and developing a strong safety culture.Experience of working in a global organization.Leadership experience 7-10 years.Skills & Abilities
Strong collaboration & team building skills – experience working with multiple locations.Strong communications and influencing skills.Detail oriented, experienced in reviewing and developing HSE policies & procedures.Travel Requirements
