This position is responsible for effectively assisting the TJU community in complying with sponsor requirements regarding post award management of sponsored programs.This is accomplished by having a thorough understanding of federal grant policies (as well as state, local and non-profit agencies), keeping abreast of changes to these regulations and attending ongoing training in the field of research administration. CORE FUNCTIONS AND COMPETENCIES: Establishment of Sponsored Projects accounts. This entails the careful review of terms and conditions of each award notice, contract or clinical trial agreement, as well as the review of the fiscal aspects of each award (budget , Famp;A rate, cost sharing, etc.) Has responsibility for entering data in the PeopleSoft Grants Management module, including generating accounts, budget updates, continuations and extensions. Monitors monthly financial statements for overruns, accelerated or delayed expenditures and cash flow. Meets regularly with assigned departments to review accounts and address problems quickly;participates in statement review meetings. . Educates faculty and RACE grants administrators regarding award terms. Responds to requests for information. Must have knowledge of University financial systems (particularly PeopleSoft and Cayuse ) and grant accounting procedures. Can access financial information electronically. Has a working knowledge of University procedures and work flow. Demonstrates commitment to our core values of excellence and innovation, integrity and respect, teamwork and communication. Knows policies and procedures applicable to assigned duties. Uses sound judgment and is award of potential hazards before taking action. Promptly reports errors/events or situations of actual or potential harm. Understands emergency procedures and can demonstrate appropriate response. Has signing authority to approve expense transactions, including Position Control requests, cost transfers and Ascent requests.. Approval is based on knowledge and interpretation of regulations and established policies and procedures, combined with sound judgment and evaluation of each specific situation. Approvals are to be made considering the compliance environment and the financial impact to Jefferson. Approves, or obtains approval, for administrative requests such as grant extensions, Professional Service Agreements and significant effort reductions. Has shared responsibility for the timely fiscal closeout of completed projects Works with staff from the Research Administration Center of Excellence (RACE) and the Jefferson Clinical Research Insititute (JCRI) to close accounts. EDUCATIONAL/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:Bachelors degree (or equivalent experience) required preferably in accounting or business. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 3 to 5 years experience in a research administration environment (or a combination of education and experience). Working knowledge of Uniform Guidance federal sponsor regulations and in particular, the NIH Grants Policy Statement.
