Business/Data Analysts (BA) are the data savvy change agents for our clients, bringing a valuable suite of financial industry knowledge and experience across asset classes, fund structures, investment operations functions and technology platforms. At Grandview, we use the term Business Analyst (BA) instead of consultant.Our engagements allow you to leverage your investment industry and data analysis skills on transformational data and technology projects for asset managers, insurance companies, banks, asset administrators and fintech providers. Typical projects may include:Implementing or updating OMS, accounting, portfolio management and compliance systemsExtracting, cleansing, and integrating data across multiple systems for streamlined processes, golden source, insightful dashboards, and reporting solutionsDesigning and implementing data governance programsSelecting investment management related technology vendors or migrating to SaaS/cloud platformsRedesigning and documenting business workflows and proceduresCreating and implementing client and performance reporting systems and processesRequired Qualifications

7+ years of financial industry experience in investment management – asset manager, insurance, bank, trustee, PE/Hedge fund, fund/asset administrator, or fintech company with front/middle/back-office data and technology platform experienceDeep knowledge of one or more investment asset classes and related data characteristics, operational functions, and technology platforms (i.e., trade, post-trade, portfolio management, compliance)Proficient analyzing, extracting, and loading large data sets using Excel, SQL, ETL, BI ToolsExperience leading 2 or more complex investment related projectsProficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio to document and present current state, analysis, solutionsAble to work independently to solve complex problems from both a business and technology perspectiveA strong desire to work in a client-focused, collaborative, fast-paced environmentRoll-up-your-sleeves, get “into” the data mindsetAwareness and career intentions to champion and contribute to a small, growing companyMust be eligible to work in the U.S. indefinitely without sponsorshipBased in Greater Chicago or NYC area; willing to work hybrid (remote and onsite), light travelWhat sets Grandview apart from other consulting firms is that every Grandview business analyst comes from the financial services industry with:Direct knowledge and experience of the investment lifecycle, investment data, data flows, asset characteristics, fund structures and related front-middle-back-office investment operations functionsKnowledge of market data sources and data flows, ABOR and IBOR technology platforms and upstream and downstream use of investment dataBusiness, data, technology, and project experience in the front, middle or back-office, or IT/PMOTechnical Data and Business Analysis

This role leans technical, as a core component of most engagements includes analyzing and reporting on large data sets across multiple systems in the investment space. A typical day includes using Excel and SQL queries for data extraction, comparison, and root cause analysis, ETL processes, and data visualization using BI/reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau. We expect at minimum advanced Excel skills.Leverage knowledge of investment data and technology to solve complex problemsUse Advanced Excel and basic SQL to analyze large data sets and perform root-cause analysisBuild and maintain data in value-added reports and dashboards using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Business Objects, Crystal ReportsDesign and deploy data governance and data integrity best practicesConduct analysis and document recommendations on database architecture and design, vendor selections, business and data workflows, data management, and operational processesProject Management, Testing and Production Support Responsibilities

You may not have held the title of “project manager” but your experience leading major projects or project workstreams is valuable baseline knowledge upon which to build more advanced project management, program governance, stakeholder communication, issue tracking and risk management skill sets.Excel in a fast-paced, complex project management environment using Grandview methodologies for project planning, execution, documentation, issue tracking and stakeholder updatesManage program governance including budgets, milestones, timelines, and stakeholder updatesIdentify, escalate, and resolve project implementation and production support issues using tools such as Jira, and effectively raise issues and provide status updates to stakeholdersDocument business requirements, policies, procedures, current state, gap analysis, data/workflowsLead or support test planning and execution, and post-production issue resolutionClient Relationship Management and Communication
