Software Engineer

The Senior Software Engineer I will be an integral part of the Analysis software engineering team within Cambium Assessment. This group of professionals provides custom software solutions for our clients as well as internal support systems. Much of the work we perform is new development, so the right candidate will have the skills needed to perform full life-cycle software development.Job Responsibilities:We work with LOTS of data (many TB) that comes fast! Scalability and heavy transactional loads, along with heavy reporting, are common challenges for us. We solve a lot of interesting and tricky problems, often not your typical collect/save/display tasks. Opportunities for more advanced coding.Milliseconds matter! Performance is key! Optimizing database access, algorithms, and choosing the right data structures are essential for designing performant systems.We write code from the ground up. We don’t use many frameworks or packages. Core software engineering skills are what we’re looking for.Our suite of systems is vast and varied, including web services (REST, SOAP, hybrid), Windows services, daemons, websites, libraries, command line tools, and Windows apps. They are always in motion, being enhanced to meet new requirements and to move them into the future.There are many system interfaces, both within our suite and across teams in the organization.
