is recruiting for the following opportunity:We are currently working with a highly-regarded law firm to find a patent attorney associate. This is a selective firm with an excellent team environment and associate retention track record. This expanding and progressive practice is known for producing quality work relating to complex patents and important patent families. This firm has clients within a variety of industries and has a strong flow of work relating to a range of technologies (e.g., medical device, materials, mechanical design, optics, consumer and industrial electronics, semiconductors, telecommunications, software engineering, etc.).The work relates primarily to patent preparation and prosecution, patent opinions (patentability, freedom to operate, validity, infringement, enforceability), and due diligence relating to US patents. This will include primarily US-based clients, but will also include some work for foreign clients needing prosecution in the US.Since this firm also deals with foreign filings, any international experience would be a plus. This is a very collegial environment, and you will deal directly with a variety of clients at all levels, thus you will need to have solid social and communication skills.Attorney Requirements:
Minimum BS in Engineering (e.g. mechanical, biomedical, materials, electrical, aeronautical, nuclear, chemical) or Physics, with an MS or PhD being highly valued.JD, State Bar, USPTO Bar with a solid academic background. At least 2 years of full-time patent drafting and prosecution experience.Agent Requirements:
Minimum of MS in Engineering (e.g. mechanical, biomedical, materials, electrical, aeronautical, nuclear, chemical) or Physics, with a PhD being preferred.USPTO Bar with a solid academic background. At least 3 years of full-time patent drafting and prosecution experience.Prior research and/or product development experience would also be valued. Fluency in other languages is certainly not required, but if you have strong fluency in another language (e.g., Japanese, Korean, Chinese, German), you would have the opportunity to leverage that here as well.Additional Notes for Candidates:
All fees are paid by client firms and companies. As a consequence of our reputation for having integrity and providing results, we often work on exclusive assignments that are not advertised.Another important distinction is that we work directly with the decision makers (i.e. partners, managing counsels, etc.) that make the determinations regarding who will be interviewed, who will be extended an offer, etc.You have our express commitment that
all information is accepted in confidence and that no resumes are submitted without first speaking to you and obtaining your explicit permission.
