11/29/24*Job posting may close early due to the volume of applicants.Senior Engineering Manager - WebAssemblyThe WebAssembly team is focused on the technology that powers Fastly’s Compute platform, which is an advanced serverless platform built on open standards that runs code, in any preferred language, on our global edge network. It’s designed to address the requirements of modern application development by empowering customers to run code in a highly secure execution environment with microsecond cold start times, at scale, on the edge.If you are a seasoned Engineering Leader and active member of open source runtime communities, this just may be your dream job! This team works with Bytecode Alliance on WebAssembly, as well as several other open source communities.What You'll Do:Lead a team of very senior and very talented developers who are truly experts in this fieldWork closely across Fastly’s engineering teams to facilitate effective communication and roadmappingWhat We're Looking For:You have a minimum of 12 years of engineering experience with at least 5 of those in a direct management roleYou are familiar with runtimes (such as V8, SpiderMonkey, CoreCLR, or others), either low-level systems implementation or performance optimizationYou have experience with engineering for scalabilityYou have experience with active Open Source communitiesWe’ll be super impressed if you have experience in any of these:Programming language design or implementationYou have experience with compiler developmentYou have experience with WebAssembly, especially with WasmtimeYou have extensive experience in leadership positions in active open source communitiesWork Hours:This position will require you to be available during core North American business hours, and available to support the team through incidents that require escalation.

Work Location(s) & Travel Requirements:This position is a remote role and open to candidates residing in the following locations: USAThis position may require travel as required by your role or requested by your manager.Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance and the Los Angeles Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring Ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.Salary:The estimated salary range for this position is $211,370 to $250,000.Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, and location.This role may be eligible to participate in Fastly’s equity and discretionary bonus programs.Benefits:We care about you.
