As an agency, we value fairness, helpfulness, transparency, leadership and build our teams around these values.The Team You’ll Work With: The Office of Asylum Seeker Operations (OASO) is leading New York City’s response to the influx of asylum seekers, providing complex services including legal supports, advocacy, shelter, education, workforce training, clothing and food donations, and collaboration with faith-based and community-based organizations.The Problems You’ll Solve: The Office of Asylum Seeker Operations (OASO) is recruiting for one (1) Agency Attorney II to function as Counsel, who will:Provide legal analysis and appropriate guidance to MoRMC staff, agency employees, and senior City executives in all areas of MoRMC’s portfolio, including City operations, procurement, contract management, and internal and external audits.Evaluate standards and guidelines related to audits and assist City agencies in establishing best audit practices throughout City government.Identify trends and common concerns across City agencies that emerge from audits, investigations, and other inquiries; assist agencies in developing appropriate responses, including implementation plans.Communicate with executives in City agencies and the Mayor’s Office concerning significant risk areas, compliance issues, and other programmatic and legal concerns identified in audits, investigations, and other inquiries.Lead and coordinate key projects that identify and assess (1) the probability and severity of risks, including compliance issues, that potentially affect essential city services, operations, and assets; and (2) opportunities for improvement.Provide briefings to the Mayor, the Chief Counsel to the Mayor, and other senior staff on critical issues and recommendations.Coordinate efforts with the Mayor’s Office of Municipal Services Assessment on specific projects and provide related legal analysis and guidance as needed.Provide direct support on selected engagements and oversee special projects, as necessary.About You:Admission to the New York State Bar; and either:One year of satisfactory United States legal experience subsequent to admission to any state bar; orSix months of satisfactory service as an Agency Attorney Intern (30086). Incumbents must remain Members of the New York State Bar in good standing for the duration of this employment.The City of New York Office of the Mayor’s compensation package includes a market competitive salary, equity for all full-time roles, and exceptional benefits. Our cash compensation range for this role is $79,620 to $91,563.
