Business Analyst - 498647-2453 at BOISE STATE UNIVERSITY in Boise, Idaho, United States Job Description Job Summary/Basic Function: Works with academic and administrative units to input and transfer data into the system and develop reports and workflows. Responsible for promoting full use of system features to improve data and reporting quality. Department Overview: The Graduate College provides leadership for quality graduate education at Boise State, ensuring the highest program standards and enhancing the student experience in over 100 distinct graduate curricula leading to graduate certificates, master's and doctoral degrees. The staff of the Graduate College at Boise State is dedicated to ensuring student success through support for the Boise State graduate student, faculty, and staff community. Level Scope: Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees. Essential Functions: 60% of the time the Business Analyst must: Create queries to gather, clean, validate, merge and maintain data sets from multiple sources, ensuring the data is secure and appropriate precautions are taken to maintain privacy. Develop technical solutions to business problems and contribute to and support the development of a data-driven decision making culture. Develop and maintain positive, collaborative, respect-based relationships with co-workers, clients, and stakeholders both internal and external. Flexibility in adapting to a fast-changing environment to meet the needs of the department and priorities of the university. Work with supervisor to develop a professional development plan with annual goals to accomplish the plan. Actively pursue excellence, effectiveness, and efficiency. 35% of the time the Business Analyst must: Run and monitor daily processes in Slate, Campus Solutions (PeopleSoft) and Perceptive Content. Recognize when there are issues, understand the severity, and depending on the severity recommend or make resolutions. Develop strategy, methods, procedures, and timeframes for automated system improvements; identifies and recommends automated system enhancements and modifications, with an emphasis on the web; provides input to staff regarding service requirements and impact of design and/or changes; serves as a liaison between functional users and Graduate College staff. Respond to end-user inquires by providing support and assistance in the definition and resolution to problems. Be able to communicate with staff to include them in the solution. Assist with team building so end users can be more proactive in identifying problem areas. Must be able to ask the right questions and see how resolutions fit into the big pictures so that other modules or other processes aren't affected. Notify other offices if it is necessary to brainstorm solutions outside of the Graduate College. Be able to articulate and document problem and solutions to management. 5% of the time the Business Analyst must: Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Strong attention to detail. Experience in training others. Advanced computer skills. Ability to effectively work and communicate with a variety of faculty, staff, and students. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience. Preferred Qualifications: Able to write help documentation. Team-building experience. Understands accessibility practices. Salary and Benefit s: Salary range is $60,000 to $66,830.40 annually and is commensurate with experience.
