The Role and TeamA phenomenal opportunity exists to join Medallia as the Technical Accounting Manager as part of our Finance leadership team. This is a key role that can be remote and will report directly to the Chief Accounting Officer. This individual will be responsible for researching all technical accounting and leading the implementation efforts for adoption of relevant standards, supporting diligence for acquisitions as well as completing purchase accounting and supporting technical positions, software revenue recognition, debt covenant compliance, drafting and reviewing annual financial statements, keeping current the Company's accounting policies and procedures, and managing key accounting positions with auditors. This position collaborates with stakeholders across the finance and business community which requires someone who thrives on collaborating with a diverse team located across multiple locations and countries in a fast-paced environment.Success in this role is dependent on leadership, organization, process improvement, technical strength and understanding, strategic execution, ability to deal with a rapidly changing business environment, analytical thinking, and strong communication.Responsibilities
Manage the preparation of the annual financial statements including all financial footnotes and disclosures. Effectively liaise with CAO, accounting, FP&A, Sales, and legal on deliverables.Preparation of all technical accounting and disclosures, including research and preparation of technical accounting memos and working with third-party consultants, as needed to support conclusions.Responsible for documenting and updating accounting policies, adapting to the changes in our business as well as changes to U.S. GAAP.Determine the impact of upcoming and potential accounting and regulatory changes and proactively prepare the organization.Support ongoing technical training for the accounting organization, including the Company's foreign entities, and drive a controls-minded approach to financial reporting.Assist in the coordination of annual audits of external auditors, including delivery of supporting documentation, clearing questions/issues, and reviewing new accounting transactions and disclosures that are technical in nature.Involvement in acquisitions /divestitures, including assistance as required with the due diligence and integration process to identify and develop solutions to effectively address issues and opportunities.Complete purchase accounting and related research.Ensure adherence to debt covenants.Participate in research to ensure appropriate accounting for the Company's equity program, M&A transactions, leases, revenue recognition, etc.Maintain the information in the Company's stock administration system to ensure completeness and accuracy of records and related stock compensation expense.
Qualifications
Minimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Accounting Degree4+ years of public accounting experienceTechnical accounting experience with stock based compensation, goodwill, intangible assets, and purchase accountingCPA CertificationDemonstrated understanding and experience of financial accounting and reporting under US GAAP and SEC requirements including preparation of financial statementsPreferred QualificationsBig 4 audit experienceTechnical knowledge and demonstrated experience in technical accounting including the research and proposal of company positions on complex accounting issues (i.e. revenue recognition, mergers and acquisition, equity accounting, lease accounting, consolidation accounting)Comprehensive understanding and prior experience with design and implementation of accounting policies and proceduresPrevious experience in public accounting supporting SaaS technology industrySaaS technology accounting experienceStrong communication skillsExperience with NetsuiteMedallia is committed to equal pay and transparency. The annual base salary range for this position is $109,600 - $217,800. Please note that the salary range information provided is a general guideline and combines all of the distinct labor markets within the US. It is uncommon for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on a variety of factors.
