Associate Director of Development

supports fundraising strategies in the Southern California region that significantly expand the revenue base of the organization. Working in close coordination with the Executive Director and the Development Coordinator, the Associate Director of Development initiates, plans, manages, and executes fundraising efforts including donor pipeline generation, cultivation, gift solicitation, stewardship, Advisory Board activities, and fundraising events. The Associate Director of Development manages their own portfolio of donors and is a key member of the Development team, acting as a project manager for long-term projects throughout the year, creating copy for communications, and promoting the profile and visibility of Facing History in the Southern California region.Who You AreYou are a creative lifelong learner experienced in relationship management and fundraising. You thrive in a team environment, bringing strong collaboration skills and independent initiative.Specific Responsibilities Include:Events (30%):

Plan, manage, and execute donor-focused events that deepen donor engagement and stimulate revenue growth. Coordinate all event logistics including print and online communications, vendor assignments, venues, catering, registration, and follow-up strategies. Manage budgets related to development events.Donor management (30%):

Qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of current and potential donors with the capacity to give gifts of up to $25,000. Seek out and attend networking events to develop a robust pipeline of prospective supporters.Communications and Stewardship (30%):

Develop and implement a major donor cultivation/stewardship communications strategy. Highlight and communicate different aspects of Facing History’s work creatively through various media. Write copy for mailings and other donor-facing collateral.Administrative support (10%):

Assist the development team by organizing and preparing for team meetings and managing development mail and office materials.Essential Skills and Qualities:Demonstrated fundraising experience, including donor cultivation and solicitation (3-5 years experience).Ability to plan and execute donor cultivation and fundraising events.Proficiency with Google office suite, Microsoft Office, and Canva; experience with Salesforce or other fundraising databases required.Excellent interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.Genuine commitment to the mission of Facing History & Ourselves.Benefits Summary:
