State Street is a systemically important financial institution that, among other business lines, provides custody, fund administration and related investment services on a global basis to a broad range of institutional clients. We are seeking an experienced attorney to support State Street’s Investment Services business in the Americas, including hedge fund and private equity fund servicing. The work will include:Providing legal and regulatory advice to business colleagues to support strategic changes to State Street’s business model, including new products, services, and partnershipsDrafting, reviewing and negotiating service agreements, disclosures and client communicationsAnalyzing regulatory issues impacting the business and its clientsAdvising business partners at various levels of the organization in relation to State Street’s global operating model, including in respect of governance structuresAdvising on claims, errors and potential litigationProviding legal advice based on strong critical thinking, problem-solving and technical legal skillsCollaborating with business, compliance and legal partners to find solutions to challenging regulatory, contractual and operational issuesAdvising business partners on commercial and legal terms that may impact the provision of services to hedge fund and private equity clientsPosition Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:Juris Doctor from an accredited United States law schoolLicense to practice in Massachusetts or another state of the United StatesSignificant (4+ years) experience in the corporate department of a major law firmStrong critical thinking, problem-solving and technical legal analysis skillsExcellent communication skills, both written and verbalDemonstrated ability to build positive working relationships with legal colleagues and senior executives, including the ability to appropriately challenge and offer an alternative point of viewAbility to communicate and interact effectively across multiple levels and functional areas within a large organizationThe ability to work in a varied and dynamic environment supporting global operations across time zonesPractice experience with investment funds, including regulatory and corporate aspects of investment fund formation and operation
a plusExperience with business development companies and private credit funds
a plusSalary Range:$120,000 - $202,500 AnnualThe range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified.
