LifeSource is hiring a Data Engineer to be responsible for providing comprehensive technical solutions for data integration, data management, stewardship, and data quality for the organization. This role provides expertise in the design, implementation, and maintenance of the data warehouse and all related extraction, transformation, and load data functions.This role will define data standards and principles and architecture for business intelligence and data warehouse, including developing and guiding data governance to ensure data integrity and compliance with relevant regulations. All activities will align with the strategic and operational goals of the organization, ensuring that data is effectively utilized to drive informed decision-making and business goals are supported.As a Data Engineer, you’ll advance our life-saving work by performing the following job duties:
Participating in defining a roadmap for technical assurance, data integration, and data governance related to the enterprise information architecture domain, translating business requirements into technology requirements. This includes:Deploying solutions for data principles including data management, stewardship, data quality standards, data integrity, and maximizing data use.Designing, configuring, and implementing effective database solutions, models, and data warehouse to store and retrieve company data for analysis, reporting, and dashboards meeting business standards.Defining the data architecture framework, standards, and principles, including modeling, metadata, security, reference data such as product codes and client categories, and master data such as clients, vendors, materials, and employees.Working across technology areas to identify and resolve complex issues related to the inter-dependencies between systems on major projects, providing expertise to design, develop, assess, and deploy architecture solutions for business problems in alignment with established standards.Completing analysis, reviewing, identifying patterns, forecasting and trending of LifeSource data for leadership, committees, and other departments using a variety of software development languages and techniques.Overseeing the migration of data from legacy to new solutions and monitor the system performance through regular testing, troubleshooting, and integration of new features.Developing Tabular Models, Reports, dashboards, and additional analysis to meet business requirements.Completing data questions, data requests, data projects, and maintenance.Managing ETL programs
Managing ETL programs to facilitate the receipt of data from various data sources, loading of data into destination tables within the overall data architecture framework, designing end-to-end solutions for file creation and distribution, supporting ETL production processes and operations. This includes:Managing end-to-end data management including data integration, modeling, and reporting.Maintaining daily ETL processes, development and implementation of Microsoft SQL SERVER 2016 using SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, and T-SQL using DDL, DML, and DCL commands.Performing performance tuning T-SQL (DDL and DML) queries to improve the database performance and availability.Programming and developing SQL scripts, tables, views, stored procedures, functions, constraints, etc.Using SSIS (Integration Services) to move data into databases from various sources, executing data cleansing and transformations as needed.Analyzing business requirements
Analyzing the business requirements for data file requests to design, develop, maintain, and deploy fully automated ETL jobs to produce data files using SSIS and the SSRS platform. This includes:Resolving SQL reporting services and T-SQL related issues.Using Visual Studio to develop ETL packages for the enterprise data warehouse.Designing and automating data quality and data validation functions as part of the overall solution.Creating and deploying reports such as cross-tab, conditional, drill-down, top N, summary, form, OLAP, and sub-reports with relational and multidimensional data.Participating in discussions
Participating in discussions with colleagues, customers, and stakeholders to understand and translate business use cases and requirements into data models, data integration routines, and analytics report findings. This includes:Communicating data results and analytics, educating others through design and build of insightful visualizations, reports, and presentations.Supporting effective training and education activities, competency, and understanding of data tools, resources, and information.Influencing end user competency
Influencing end user competency by supporting systematic process delivery tools and resources ensuring the development and maintenance of information services documentation. This includes:Recommending and implementing procedure and process modifications or improvements to current processes to ensure effectiveness and efficiency to support strategic direction plans.Collaborating and driving consistent documentation of comprehensive information services systems, including knowledge base articles, workflow, and network diagrams.Driving quality and consistency, engaging in root cause analysis, follow through, and timely documentation of all non-conformance and compliance reports.Engaging as a subject matter expert, in ensuring successful internal, customer, or regulatory audits.WORKING CONDITIONS
This role is hybrid on-site in Minneapolis
. Able to work a minimum of 40 hours per week with a schedule adjusted to accommodate organizational needs. Will participate in on-call rotation, to respond to high priority issues during non-business hours when assigned.We are not offering relocation at this time.Approximate salary range for this position is
$87,000 - $105,000 Per Year . Exact rate to be determined at time of offer and dependent on years of relevant experience.Position Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
A combination of education and experience equivalent to 5 years of computer science, software engineering, or data analysis responsibilities, specifically in Microsoft SQL Server, SSRS, SSIS, SSAS, and T-SQL.Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) accreditation preferred.Requires expertise to execute complex SQL commands (apply, cross joins, and dynamic SQL), SAS, and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables) for auditing and report creation.Requires previous experience designing and maintaining an enterprise data warehouse.Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.Prefer previous experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, BI360, Sisense, or PowerBI) and Microsoft SQL Report Builder.Prefer previous experience with Agile Software Development.Prefer experience with both Microsoft Analysis Services and tabular models.Strong written and verbal communication and collaboration skills are essential with the ability to create and deliver effective presentations to management and technical team members across the organization and vendor teams.Proven formal and/or informal leadership capabilities by displaying outstanding teamwork and collaboration skills.Proven effective at establishing rapport and working relationships with peers, customers, and vendors.Must be organized, detail-oriented, and have excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.Proven self-directed, motivated contributor with a strong initiative and ability to function autonomously, establish priorities and collaborate effectively with a team.Demonstrated ability to exhibit a high degree of quality, integrity, and honor confidentiality of appropriate information including, but not limited to, personal team member data, organizational operations or work processes, donor and donor family information, contributor details, any financial information, and medical or protected health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA.Proven skilled and competent in using technology-based tools such as personal computers and related software, mobile devices, and electronic medical record systems as appropriate for the position.Why Join LifeSource:
