Colwen Hotels is a dynamic and growing hotel company, with an extraordinary portfolio of successful branded and independent hotels located from New England to South Florida. With an aggressive growth plan, we are seeking a hands-on, tenured, and results-driven Vice President of Operations to join our leadership team. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidate will have a significant background in managing full-service hotels as well as possessing extensive food and beverage experience and knowledge. This position will play an integral role in partnering with fellow senior operations leaders to guide properties on improving service standards, increasing profits, reducing costs, and maintaining brand and Colwen Hotels standards. This individual’s region of hotels will include our high-volume food & beverage properties.Responsibilities will include developing strategies to grow revenue, enhance service, and improve quality across the portfolio by relying on extensive experience and sound judgment to plan and accomplish goals. A strong emphasis will be placed on analyzing information (financial statements, STR reports, revenue management reports, QA reports, and guest services scores). This role will develop and provide guidance and mentorship to functional leaders both at and above the property level, developing and cultivating collaborative relationships with all disciplines while maintaining a culture consistent with our core values. This position is based in the Greater Boston region.Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Overall responsibility for the operations, P&L performance, cost controls, associate and guest satisfaction for the assigned region of hotels.Oversight of company-wide food and beverage programs, systems, and controls.Provide ongoing training and support to the hotel leadership teams through on-property meetings, one-on-one coaching, and continuous interaction in person and on the telephone.Conduct regular property visits to ensure brand and ownership standards are being achieved.Set short-term and long-range goals in tandem with fellow VPs of Operations to aid and achieve each property’s defined performance metrics.Participate in the recruiting, hiring, and evaluation of property leadership teams.Drive guest satisfaction by maintaining product and service quality standards; periodic property inspections, ensuring completion of Brand and Company training programs, and initiating corrective action as necessary.Review Quality Assurance Inspections, Accounting Audits, Human Resources Audits, and Loss Prevention Inspections, assessing actual performance to defined benchmarks, identifying variances and initiating corrective action.Maintain continual awareness of industry trends and brand goals on competitive practices and changes.Ongoing consistent and effective implementation of Colwen Management policies and procedures and providing suggestions for improvements or new approaches to build the Colwen Brand.Establish and maintain positive relationships with hotel owners and investors.Collaborate with regional sales, revenue management, accounting, human resources, engineering, and safety/loss prevention teams.Additional Requirements:15+ years of hotel operations management experience leading to vice president or above-level leadership role required.5+ years of multi-unit hotel management experience in a mid to large-size hotel group in the role of VP or SVP of Operations.Demonstrated success in Food and Beverage operational leadership in a multi-unit environment generating 75+ million annually.Multi-brand experience to include Marriott, Hilton, Choice, and IHG along with independent and soft brands highly desired.Strong business and financial acumen with ability to effectively communicate with company executives and hotel owners.Proficient technical skills including Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Office.Strong pre-opening experience.Excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills.Outstanding presentation skills, both oral and written presentation.Highly analytical, creative problem solver and a strong leader with the ability to make sound decisions.Excellent organizational skills, and ability to handle multiple priorities.Prior experience with Profit Sword, Ottimate, and UKG a plus.This position may be based out of either our Portsmouth, NH or Medford, MA corporate offices.We’ve got you covered: Benefits & PerksMedical Insurance with Company-Funded HRAVision InsuranceFlexible Spending AccountsWide-Array of Supplemental Insurance OfferingsPaid Time Off ProgramsEmployee Assistance Program401K Plan – Traditional & Roth Options with Employer MatchHotel Discount Travel Program for Associates & FamilyExclusive Associate Discounts – Travel, Entertainment, & RetailTraining and Development ProgramsColwen Hotels is an equal opportunity employer.
