The Senior Database Administrator will manage the administration, maintenance, and security of database systems at LTD as part of the Information Technology team. This role emphasizes ensuring database performance, data integrity, and availability. Responsibilities include implementing backup, recovery, and disaster recovery plans. Key tasks involve monitoring and tuning databases, implementing data security measures, and maintaining database documentation.Essential Job Functions:

Work closely with the Data Warehouse Manager, SQL Developer, and Business Intelligence Analysts to support LTD's overall Business Intelligence StrategyDesign, develop, and deploy code (ETL, Visualization, Design Modeling, SQL, and other tools, languages, and technologies)Configure and administer Power BI Report Server (development, testing, and production environments)Monitor performance of ETL processes and build in redundancies to avoid risk of an information outageBuild up repository of data that can be used to move forward in the case of catastrophic loss of data (disaster recovery)Implement backup and recovery plansSuggest courses of action for database high availabilityPreparations for systems upgradesMaintain documentation and versioningInvestigate data flows, identify automation opportunities and create updated data flowsEnsure performance, security, and integrity of database systemsMonitor database performance and tune SQL queriesManage database access, user permissions, and security measuresDevelop and implement source control and deployment standardsScript and automate database maintenance tasksKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Administration and Management - knowledge of business and management principles involved in planning, resource allocation, and coordination of people and resourcesStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills and experience within an IT environmentAdvanced proficiency of Microsoft WindowsStrong cybersecurity knowledge - Role-based access controls, network security, vulnerability management, patching, and encryptionSQL: Advanced proficiency in writing complex queries, and knowledge of SQL commands, functions, and proceduresRelational Databases: Proficiency with SQL ServerData Modeling: Proficiency in ER diagrams and normalization techniquesSchema Design: Ability to design and implement database schemasPerformance Tuning: Skills in optimizing SQL queries and managing indexes.Monitoring: Experience with database performance toolsTroubleshooting: Ability to diagnose and resolve performance issuesBackup and Recovery: Knowledge of backup strategies and disaster recovery plans.Security: Knowledge of access control, encryption, and data protection regulationsAutomation: Experience with automation tools for database tasksETL Processes: Knowledge of ETL processes and tools like SSIS, PowerShell, and SFTP file transfersDatabase Tools: Experience with tools like SSMS and Redgate ToolsSQL Performance Monitoring Tools like Redgate MonitorCloud Databases: Knowledge of AWS RDS, Azure SQL DatabaseVirtualization: Understanding of VMware and virtualization conceptsReplication and Clustering: Experience with database replication and clustering.Development: Skills in stored procedures, and API integrationGood oral and written communication including regular communication inside and outside the District to exchange ideas and gather information that can be used to influence decisions, policies, projects, or program design/management with some degree of tact, negotiation, and/or confidentialityAdapt to shifting priorities and demands, effectively integrating diverse functions and interestsIdentify opportunities for improving existing processes and procedures, and collaborate with relevant teams to implement solutionsAnalyze problems or concepts and make decisions based on the information.Work under minimal supervisionEffectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences, collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals, and demonstrate strong problem-solving skills in time-sensitive situationsQualifications:

Required Education and Experience:Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job. Education and course work can substitute for years of experience.Experience:

Minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a technical discipline or experience equivalent (at least 5 years of on-the-job database administration experience)10 years' experience in technical domains, including at least 5 years' experience in database administrationExperience with BI tools (SSRS and Power BI)Experience with data integration from multiple different systems including knowledge of API data transfersAble to read, write and interpret advanced T-SQL database programmingAdvanced proficiency of standard office software (MS Office), reporting applications, and analytical techniquesExperience developing detailed project plans and project documentationPreferred:

Technology skills to include: database management, Visual Studio for Integration services, tabular models, and console applications (C#); Power BI/M & Power BI Report server; HTML; Redgate for SQL monitoring; data profiling; advanced Excel skills; DAX; MDX; TSQL, JSON Data manipulation, PowerShellProfessional CertificationsITIL FoundationsWork Schedule:

May work onsite at our Administrative offices in Eugene, OR and/or remote office as approved. Will occasionally be required to work and/or attend meetings or events in public and at all LTD locationsMonday through Friday 8am to 5pm PST.
