Job Description SummaryEntry-level role that investigates and maintains property/casualty claims. Determine liability, secure information, reviews coverages, arrange appraisals, and settles claims. Participate in required training activities and learns investigation and settlement techniques. Learn and develop an understanding of corporate procedures and philosophies.In this primarily home-based role, you will spend 80% of your time (4+ days per week) working from home. On occasion you may be asked to travel to an office location for in person engagement activities such as team meetings, trainings, and culture events. Relocation support is offered for eligible candidates.Essential Job ResponsibilitiesYou will provide excellent customer service by phone or through written correspondence.You will conduct fast, accurate investigations which can include obtaining necessary documents and forms from claimants and insureds.You will evaluate and investigate policy coverage, liability and damages promptly following a set of general claim and statutory guidelines.You will establish initial reserves for all potential exposures and adjust throughout the claim.You will communicate with involved parties and negotiate appropriate settlements with claimants, insureds and in some cases body shops and attorneys within approved payment authority.You will determine appropriate method of inspection based on loss facts and ensure completion of appraisals for accident related damages.You will establish appropriate management of assigned inventory following company guidelines.You will review and process mail relating to assigned claims.You will recognize recovery opportunities relating to subrogation and salvage.You will recognize suspicious claim characteristics and the NICB indicators of fraud and refer such claims to the Special Investigations Unit for review.Experience/Skills RequirementsQualifications0 - 1 year of insurance claims, customer service, sales and/or underwriting experience preferred, but will also accept experience in the general service industry.Proficient PC and Windows skills.Effective verbal and written communication, time management, critical thinking, organization and negotiation skills.Experience providing excellent customer service.Perform basic math calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) and the calculation of averages and percentages.Current adjusting license or ability to acquire insurance adjuster license in the states of operation.
Specialized Knowledge & Skills Requirements*Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service.*Basic knowledge and understanding of claim handling process.
Licenses*Obtain state specific property casualty claims licensing as required.
