1Position Summary

The Division of Institutional Advancement/Alumni & Constituency Relations at Jackson State University is accepting applications for its Director of Alumni & Constituency Relations position. The Director of Alumni and Constituency Relations reports directly to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement and External Affairs, and serves as an ambassador for the University. The Director also works in collaboration with the JSU National Alumni Association, Inc., to design and lead a comprehensive and creative engagement strategy for JSU alumni, presently numbering more than 50,000.Qualifications

Minimum Required Education:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in business, communications, marketing or related field is required.Minimum Required Experience:

Five (5) or more years of direct supervisory experience, preferably in a higher education setting.Minimum Required Licenses and/or Certifications:

None.Additional Qualifications

Experience using online social networking and other web-based initiatives.Experience working in higher education among students, staff, and faculty.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Blackbaud, and other software.Knowledge of the University’s Banner database.Excellent typing and organizational skills.Excellent planning, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills as well as fundraising experience.Ability to take initiative and independently plan, organize, coordinate, and perform multiple projects simultaneously.Ability to interact with a diverse population at all levels.Job Duties and Responsibilities

Design and implement innovative alumni programming to increase membership in the National Alumni Association, alumni engagement, and financial support to the University.Supervise alumni staff and work with the JSU National Alumni Association, Inc. (JSUNAA) to plan and implement innovative programs to keep alumni connected to the University.Actively engage in events and consistently give to JSU to increase alumni giving and the alumni participation rate (APR).Serve as the primary webmaster for the department and create a new website to update and maintain the Alumni Relations web page to attract alumni to the site and keep them informed about JSU highlights.Produce reports for JSUNAA board members, regional vice presidents, and alumni chapters to keep groups updated on alumni giving and other outreach projects in the department.Manage the department’s annual budget to maintain efficient day-to-day operations.EEO Statement
