POSITION SUMMARY
The Strategic Sourcing and Contracts role is responsible for leading a team of Procurement and contracting professionals to negotiate and deliver cost effective strategic sourcing strategies and help maximize company spend as part of the contracting process. The role covers all aspects of the development, clinical and commercial activities for outsourced services and Supply Chain. This role is responsible for creating and implementing clear ways of working, documented through SOPs, for all Company outsourced spend (e.g. vendors, partners, consultants, etc…). Another key aspect of the role is to create a pipeline of savings and other Total Cost of Ownership (“TCO”) benefits and to maintain and, where necessary, improve the service received from outsourced providers.
JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop and implement robust category strategies covering all company spend.
Develop and implement a risk strategy to include clear & concise mitigation plans for all critical and strategic studies.
Create, develop, and manage a highly motivated, high performing team of Procurement and Contract professionals to manage all procurement related transactions and company spend.
Leverage existing Company systems (like Contract Management tools and AP systems) to integrate decision making and review.
Create a short and long term pipeline of savings and TCO projects which will deliver savings and TCO benefits to Mirum on a sustainable basis.
Support legal teams with structured and defined relationships with Company partners and vendors.
Provide Procurement leadership and become a trusted partner to key internal stakeholder groups and departments.
Drive the Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) approach with identified core and strategic suppliers by building strong relationships at senior levels to make Mirum the partner of choice.
Maintain a strong culture of compliance and ethical behavior across the Procurement and Contracts team and ensure that every supplier and Company partner operates to the highest compliance and ethics standards.
Support or lead all major negotiations for high value critical and strategic outsourced studies.
Help manage existing supply chain inventory management and logistics optimization.
Ensure that a clear process is established to manage all aspects of the outsourcing process, legal intake and onboarding and making sure is then documented through clear and concise SOPs.
Put in place contracts to cover all outsourced spend and work with departmental leaders to ensure efficiencies of scale.
Create and maintain a pool of preferred suppliers split by appropriate subcategory groupings.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience:
Minimum 5 years leading Procurement groups.
Minimum of 12 years of Procurement experience gained in the Life Sciences industry.
Educated to college degree level or above.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated leadership skills gained by operating at senior levels both internally and with third party providers.
Demonstrated ability to create a savings and TCO pipeline of projects over a sustained period.
Excellent communication skills, interpersonal and externally both written and oral.
Ability to build and develop a highly motivated and capable team of Procurement and Contract Professionals.
Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with senior management both internally and with senior leadership at third party providers.
