Role Summary: This role is responsible for the development of RF electrical vehicle systems and RF-centric hardware Electronic Control Units (ECUs) across various technology domains. It requires a fundamental electronics background. The role is highly cross-functional and may include occasional travel. The opening will be located at the Palo Alto office location and reports directly to an Engineering Manager within the Hardware organization. This role is expected to work in the office 5 days per week.

Responsibilities: Homologation and certification of radio ECUs for different geographical regions in the world. Testing and validation of RF design and integration. Should be well versed with different RF test instruments and have a good understanding of operating principles of these instruments. RF design, simulation, and integration of communication modules in various ECUs. Work cross-functionally with various teams to understand RF measurement requirements and issues. Assist in setting up different RF measurements at various stages of product development. Basic understanding of cellular protocol and cellular carrier certification requirements for all major US carriers. The RF Design Engineer will design and simulate RF products. Define and maintain requirements specifications. Support the development process, ensuring key design decisions and developments are in alignment with the required product capabilities. Design and prototype the RF product including component selection and PCB layout/fabrication/packaging including ECU enclosure. Support the development of test plans and procedures. Support the design and development of production automation. Review proposals and requirements specifications to assess compliance based on existing unit capabilities vs development needs. Scope and drive development activities for new requirements.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have a strong combination of RF engineering, system design, and board/circuit design skills and will thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, RF communications (or an equivalent qualification) and 5+ years of relevant experience. Fundamental RF knowledge including cascaded device analysis, link budget analysis, and HFSS. Experience in developing and delivering an RF product including assessing requirements, prototyping engineering models. A solid theoretical and practical understanding of RF communications. Extensive experience in space board design including parts selection and performance simulation. Experience leading incident management and investigations. Effective communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships. Project management experience.

Pay Disclosure: Salary Range for California Based Applicants: $167,400 - $209,300 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
