Position Summary:Serve as primary interface to hospital staff in assisting with problem solving and identification as it pertains to Clinical Management Information Systems. Assist with project planning as defined. Organize and document planned procedures for assigned portion of systems project design, documentation, training and installation. Coordinate project implementation with vendors associated with specific products. Serve as the support specialist for a specific clinical information system. Ensure adherence to Hospitals and departmental policies and procedures. No patient care assignment.
Detailed responsibilities:* NEEDS ANALYSIS - Communicate and collaborate with technical and non-technical personnel to understand and define user needs, gather and analyze data and recommend solutions* PROJECTS - Determine needs within hospital departments for information processing and is able to coordinate a project from start to finish* PROJECTS - Serves on IT project planning and implementation teams to provide application system assistance* PROJECTS - Work closely with system staff on proposed software and hardware upgrades and participate in all major data, functional, and technical decisions* PROJECTS - Head small sized project teams coordinating progress from start to completion* PROJECTS - Responsible for coordination of project implementation with the respective vendor companies associated with a specific system* PROJECTS - Investigate and help resolve system problems* PROJECTS - Provide guidance to other IT personnel on proposed software upgrades on existing IT system as it pertains to the impact on hospital staff* PROJECTS - Provide support, maintenance and administration for assigned IT projects. Prepare and present status reports on assigned projects* SYSTEM UPGRADE - Set up and guide to completion new information systems and/or system upgrades* PROJECTS - Assess the effectiveness of current and newly implemented systems* SYSTEM UPGRADE - Provide ongoing post-conversion system support* TRAINING - Collaborate with appropriate personnel on the training of IT and Hospitals personnel in new applications and changes to systems as applicable, including appropriate staff on all projects requiring training on existing or new systems* PROCEDURE - Assist management in developing, creating, maintaining and updating functional operating manuals and contingency plans outlining established methods of performing work in accordance with UNM Hospitals organizational policy* DEVELOPMENT - Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings and workshops

Physical Conditions:Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. May require walking or standing to a significant degree or requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or may require working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of materials is negligible.
