PHD Data Science is a custom advanced analytics unit that delivers analytics solutions across a wide variety of client applications and helps brands connect better with their customers. Data Scientists deploy statistical and machine learning models tailored to each brand’s business challenge, act as domain experts on agency media planning and optimization tools, and scope out projects through interfacing with agency teams and clients.The Data Science team has grown tremendously over the years, supporting agency business pitches and developing new products through research along with rigorous application of analytical and creative thinking.Team Overview:
We are a 10+ team spread across NY, Chicago, and Los Angeles offices. Team members work on single or multiple accounts with overlapping workstreams. The Data Science unit has Senior Analysts, Managers, Associate Directors, and above. We value coaching, career growth, and put a strong emphasis on retention.Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a Manager to join our Data Science team. This role will be an impactful individual contributor and will interface frequently with media strategy, investment, and client marketing teams to scope out solutions to novel marketing problems.Our data scientists build predictive models utilizing machine learning and advanced statistics. PHD data scientists leverage data to address challenges in media optimization, audience creation, segmentation, audience journey, digital attribution, and cross-channel customer experience.As a data scientist, you will develop compelling actionable insights through quantitative analysis, innovative thinking, and storytelling with data. You will contribute to the delivery of smart marketing and strategic advice through the combination of data & insights across multiple industry-leading clients in a dynamic environment. You will have the opportunity to showcase your communication and technical skills to client brand managers.Areas of Responsibility:
Marketing Mix Model Integration to Strategic and Tactical Media Planning:
Work with third-party vendor Data Scientists and clients to estimate media spend to sales response relationships.Leverage PHD in-house optimization toolsets to provide optimal marketing spend and media channel budget spend allocations to maximize media return over investment.Media Target Audience Design:
Support media target audience expansion to meet brand sales and other KPI goals.Identify revenue opportunities in new audiences utilizing in-house data sets that span transaction, behavioral, and other rich attributes at the individual level for the US market.Segment audiences using internal and client first-party data sets through unsupervised learning.Run predictive modeling utilities to define audiences for deployment, e.g., look-alike modeling.Media Activation Analytics:
Analyze media ad-server, Demand Side Platforms, and media partner data in data clean rooms to make recommendations on media funnel optimization.Implement custom bidding algorithms for media clients.Custom Modeling:
Build predictive algorithms on top of our vast number of datasets via Statistical Modeling, Machine Learning, e.g., Linear Regression, Logistic Regression, and Bayesian Hierarchical Models.Media Measurement and Learning Agenda:
Contribute to media measurement and test & learn implementation with third-party vendors and internal stakeholders.Develop actionable insights around campaign results to support media investment teams.Cross-Functional Teamwork:
Partner with internal PHD Media Communications, Media Strategy, Digital and Video Investment to drive client brand growth in sales.Interface with third-party vendors to source requisite data for media measurement initiatives.Client Management and Presentation:
Maintain a productive relationship with clients at the peer level or higher to ensure they are informed of any new activities or updates to existing projects.Data storytelling of results and analyses in presentation decks.Required Skills And Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, engineering, information management, social sciences, or business/marketing related fields. An advanced quantitative degree is preferred.3-5 years of experience with predictive modeling, databases, computational simulation, clustering, machine learning in academia or industry.(New graduates will also be considered depending on their educational background and academic record.)2+ years of industry experience with Python, SQL, R, and other statistical computing environments.Experience working in high-volume databases, utilizing quantitative techniques to solve problems such as campaign analysis, optimization, customer segmentation, and/or predictive modeling. Strong command of statistical techniques and concepts.Desire to learn and passion for client business, digital marketing, research, and analytics.Ability to manage and prioritize concurrent tasks in a fast-paced environment.Comfortable in explaining complex technical ideas to multiple audiences both verbally and in writing in a consultative role.Strong presentation and communication skills.Attention to detail to deliver consistent and high-quality insights.
