Roles and Responsibilities Summary:The Failure Analysis Report (FAR) requirements are flowed down to Parker from Gulfstream (GAC) via Purchase Order (PO), and 100% of all Parker component removals that GAC suspected to be the cause of the aircraft level failure are received with a FAR requirement on the PO.
The purpose of the FAR is to correlate the Parker findings to the aircraft level failure mode and determine if there are any failure trends that may require corrective action. The Project Engineer will drive the FAR work and manage the master FAR tracking working with individual engineers/technicians and focal points and GAC program managers within the SSO (Service Support Operations) and CFCD (Commercial Flight Control division) divisions. The Project Engineer will also follow up activities and logistics to have the individual SN FAR's/project closed.
FARs are submitted via Seller Engineering Memo (SEM) to Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation (GAC) for the Parker Bill of Materials that include over 48 Part Numbers (PN). The components shown in Table 1 attached are examples of the Bill of Material. To help manage the project and correlate the Parker findings to the aircraft level failure mode, the individual needs to understand basic knowledge of electronics, hydraulic operation, EHSV operational basics, and G650, G500/G600 system architecture.
Currently there are over 400 Mechanical and Electronical FAR's open. On average 15 new parts are inducted and turn to an open FAR.Candidate should have project management experience and skills.
Scope of Work:The individual will need to:
Manage and control the Master FAR tracker (including top assemblies and its subparts that require FAR)Interface with GAC customersBe accountable to agreed metrics and plan with GAC considering FAR burndownInterface with engineer specialists to report and follow up FAR progress activitiesInterface with program managers to prioritize FARs on units that are needed to prevent AOG situationsAccess repair shop database (R-Card), interpret the test findings and failure observations noted on the database and on the test data sheet, and extract relevant information to update FAR trackerInterface with the Materials and Processes lab to follow up lab evaluation requests and have general knowledge to understand the findingsCollect, organize, and interpret all Parker component test results, failure observations, SIL testing, engineering directed testing, and lab analysis to be loaded in the FAR trackerEventually submit individual FARs to GAC via SEM. SEM will contain FARs per the GAC approved format to present and correlate the findings as they relate to the aircraft level fault. FARs will be written by engineer specialist(s)Work is to be performed in the Customer Support Engineering office in IrvineBusiness travel may be required when interfacing with Savannah, Ogden or Dublin engineers/repair stations. Length of travel may be up to 5 days in duration.
