This is an opportunity for an engineer with 3+ years of experience in a facade engineering firm. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about building enclosure design and developing custom solutions for new construction and repositioning projects. Our San Francisco office is in-person 4+ days a week to provide an active and engaged environment for design innovation, collaboration, and mentorship.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work closely with senior staff in the conceptualization, design, and analysis of structural solutions to a variety of challenging enclosure systems.Interface directly with the client, external design team, consultants, and construction teams during all project phases.Balance workload requirements for multiple projects simultaneously.Review contractor proposals, shop drawings, and structural calculations.Witness laboratory performance testing.Expand firm’s shared knowledge through internal Research & Development.Provide mentorship of technical staff.Domestic and/or international travel for factory inspections and testing.Training will be provided as needed to supplement previous experience to achieve full expertise, concept through construction, and advancement.QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
3+ years of relevant work experience focused on structural design and engineering of building envelope and glazing systems, at a facade-focused AE firm or at a facade contractor.Professional degree in Engineering.Professional license in Engineering, or on track to obtain a license.Proficiency with finite element analysis software such as Strand7, Staad, Mepla, etc.Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.Proficiency with Rhino and Sketchup is a plus.Experience with building science analytics is a plus.Knowledge of facade design over a range of system types.Excellent communication, drawing, writing, and interpersonal skills.Design and detail oriented, organized, patient, and flexible.Confident communicating through both hand sketches and digital modeling.Interest in working in the field, observing project installation on construction sites.Flexibility to travel domestically and internationally.Authorization to work in U.S.At Heintges we are focused on cultivating a supportive office environment of positivity, respect, professionalism, free sharing of information, and good work-life balance.
