Senior Development Officer - The Berkshires

Based in Pittsfield, MA, the Jewish Federation of the Berkshires cares for those in need and nurtures and sustains Jewish life across the Berkshires and beyond. In 2023, Federation’s annual campaign raised more than $1.2 million from over 1,100 donors, representing ten years of continued growth.
The Senior Development Officer works with the executive director and volunteer leadership to plan and implement the annual campaign and major gifts fundraising effort. Reporting to the Executive director, responsibilities include donor research, donor engagement, solicitation of funds, events, committee meetings, and other projects.
Key Responsibilities:Develop a strategy for implementing the annual campaign, major gift solicitations, and special campaigns in partnership with the Executive Director and Development Committee.Develop and execute fundraising plans, which include face-to-face solicitations, donor research, social media, communications, fundraising events, donor cultivation, and stewardship.Engage the Board of Directors and Development committee in fundraising and professionally support their efforts.Plan and implement key fundraising events with the support of Federation staff.Create and manage development-related communications, including direct mail and email appeals, social media posts, collateral materials, and presentations.Oversee the development associate in record keeping, gift and data entry, and other donor communications.
Skills/Experience:Three years of fundraising experience or related professional experience, including personal solicitation experience.Comfortable with high-net-worth donors.Excellent interpersonal skills, relationship-building skills, and customer service orientation.Communication skills, written and verbalKnowledge of and passion for Federation’s mission or familiarity with the interests and concerns of the Jewish Community. Knowledge or experience with Jewish organizations as a professional or volunteer would be a plus.Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, familiarity with fundraising databases, and use of ZOOM.Use of social media, including Facebook and Instagram.
