Job Description: Our client, a large defense contractor, has an immediate opening for an Advanced Electrical Engineer to work from their Manassas, VA facility. We are seeking a Mid-Level Electrical Engineer with 5+ years of technical experience to become an integral member of the engineering team dedicated to the development of military-grade electronics the Common Weapon Launcher (CWL) system.
Qualifications: Requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience.CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is obtainable with in a reasonable time from hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Analyze and design AC-DC and DC-DC power systems and power controlIntegrate, test, troubleshoot, and verify electrical hardwareDevelop test criteria and assist in the design of test systemsPerform component and architecture trade studies to determine optimal system solutions to design hardware and electronics based on commercial and industry components and technologiesDesign cable assembliesDevelop new electronics in the form of PCB designs and corresponding testsDevelop technical presentations, recommendations, and written communications to explain technical issues to program management and the Navy customerGenerate design and interface documentation
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Experience with the engineering development life cycle, including concept, requirements, design, implementation, and test phasesExperience with MIL-STD-1399 and MIL-STD-461 design and qualificationExperience with design and debug of switch mode DC-DC converters including knowledge of control loop stability analysisExperience with design and debug of 3-phase AC-DC conversion including transformer designWorking knowledge of common communication interfaces such as RS-422, RS-485, and LVDSExperience in analog and digital circuit designExperience with lab equipment including signal generators, high speed oscilloscopes, power analyzersProficiency in all phases of PCB design, including: creation of high-level functional diagrams, SPICE analysis, power analysis, component selection, schematic entry, and working with the PCB layout team to optimize placement, signal integrity, fitment, etc.Strong documentation and communication skillsOrCAD Capture experience a plusExperience with firmware or microcontrollers a plusExperience with VHDL/Verilog a plus
