The Carpenter is responsible for independently managing and executing a range of carpentry and construction tasks, including framing, finishing, concrete work, block and brick laying, ceiling grid installation, and flooring. The Journeyman Carpenter applies advanced knowledge of construction techniques and ensures high-quality workmanship and compliance with safety and building codes.

Key Responsibilities

Interpret and apply construction drawings and blueprints independentlyDemonstrate advanced assembly and construction techniques, including framing, finishing, woodworking, concrete pouring, block and brick laying, ceiling grid installation, and flooringPerform troubleshooting of construction-related issues, offering solutions and guidance to team membersIndependently install new construction systems and oversee refurbishmentsLead or assist craftsperson teams (carpenters, electricians, plumbers, painters, mechanics) to efficiently complete construction projectsUphold all safety protocols and ensure compliance with LOTO, fall protection, and environmental standardsConduct site inspections to ensure adherence to safety regulations and building codesMaintain accurate records of materials, inventory, and toolsPerform thorough site cleanup and ensure tools and materials are stored correctlyProactively respond to emergency work requests, utilizing advanced problem-solving skillsAll other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Journeyman or equivalentHigh proficiency in interpreting and applying construction drawingsStrong ability to work both independently and as a team lead, when requiredSkilled communication for effective leadership and training of less-experienced carpentersCapacity to maintain a flexible schedule, including potential weekends and holidaysValid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

Completion of advanced vocational training in carpentry or a relevant fieldExtensive experience in construction, facilities maintenance, or a related areaIn-depth knowledge of carpentry techniques, safety regulations, and building codesFamiliarity with maintenance management software and project management toolsProficient in reading and interpreting technical documentation and construction manualsStrong leadership and communication skills, with experience reporting issues and progress on complex tasks.
