National Beef could become your next career move.Our internship program will provide you with a hands-on opportunity to work in a Leather Processing laboratory from start to finish. You will be introduced to our company culture and work practices and learn how our departments function.This is a paid internship. Housing allowance is included where required.This is an on-site position.Program length: 10-12 weeksProgram highlights and responsibilities for the Laboratory Summer Internship include but are not limited to:Gaining insight into the laboratory, technical analysis, sampling and testing, water treatment, and compliance policies of National Beef Leathers facilityAssisting in laboratory technical analyses for leather productionSampling and testing materials for process control and quality assuranceLearning and understanding the full tanning processConducting water treatment and testing procedures while monitoring compliance with environmental regulationsAnalyzing statistical data to identify trends and improve processesCollaborating with the production team on process improvementsMaintaining accurate records of laboratory tests and resultsSupporting the Laboratory Manager in daily operationsFollowing all laboratory safety policies and standard operating procedures at all timesOther duties as assignedThis is a safety sensitive position. This is an on-site position.Qualified Candidates for the Laboratory Summer Internship position should possess the following:Enrolled and have completed at least three years in an accredited college degree program focusing in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related field
Minimum GPA of 3.0 in core curriculum classes
Hands on experience with laboratory equipment
Familiarity with statistical analysis and data interpretation
Strong interest in laboratory work and manufacturing processes
Willingness to learn about the leather tanning process
Demonstrated leadership abilities and on-campus involvement
Conscientious and responsible demeanor
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Ability to work both independently and in a team setting
Proficiency with all Microsoft Office products
Availability to work 40 hours per week on-site for the duration of the internship
