In this job you will play an essential, hands-on role in supporting the company’s vision to lead the transformation of the electric industry and achieving corporate goals through the development and implementation of an integrated communications strategy for media relations and social media. You will lead a team of media relations experts, providing hands-on leadership, coaching and direction to drive impactful external communication strategies. You’ll be responsible for building relationships with key local, regional and national journalists and identify top-tier media opportunities for C-Suite officers to advance our vision and thought leadership. The role will entail leading all aspects of crisis communications, acting as a company spokesperson, providing quality control over content and monitoring performance based on company objectives and success metrics. SCE is a 24/7 business for customers, and this position serves on incident management teams during emergency activations, including after hours, nights and weekends as part of a regular duty rotation. Responsibilities Shapes and oversees strategic corporate communication plans, including developing plans in line with other business initiatives, communicating plans internally, and securing leadership approvals Engages with leadership and external stakeholders, making pivotal decisions that shape the company's public image and brand identity Oversees the implementation of a robust measurement program, including various internal and external channels in support of business priorities Executes communication campaigns in support of the business and the company's brand and reputation Oversees the section budget, administering and implementing the approved budget, authorizing purchases and justifying variances Leads the development of policies to enhance the efficiency of the communications department and to further develop the building and maintaining of a positive corporate brand Oversees the development of relationships with corporate and industry media organizations, communities, trade associations and other affiliated non-industry organizations in order to position SCE positively A material job duty of all positions within the company is supporting the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity Minimum Qualifications Seven or more years of experience supervising a team of direct reports and/or project management. Experience in communications or marketing. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or higher in communications, marketing, business, journalism or a related field. Five or more years of experience with directly developing and implementing media and social media strategic communications on a local, regional and national level. Experience with creating and building relationships with journalists and influencers to generate positive media coverage. Knowledgeable in media and social media metrics and reports to evaluate the effectiveness of external communication campaigns. Agile, with a sense of urgency and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Strong planner and organizer with superior project management skills. Strategic problem solver with attention to tactical execution and detail. Excellent writing, editing and oral communication skills. Ability to interact with all company levels, maintaining tact and diplomacy. Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Committed to living the Edison values. Additional Information This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
