Microsoft Silicon Engineering Solutions and Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) is the team responsible for developing and delivering the hardware and firmware that is responsible for powering Microsoft’s “Intelligent Cloud” mission. From cloud game streaming to data services, the hardware we design is contributing to the success of millions of customers. The SCHIE team is looking for a Senior Director of Engineering to oversee the development of certain building block intellectual property (IP) and products. In this leadership role you will be responsible for the overall development of certain Compute Accelerator IPs along with the development of certain System on Chips (SoCs) that power Azure servers and other Hardware devices. Responsibilities would also include identifying and putting on the roadmap of additional Accelerator IPs that will be beneficial for the business. The candidate will collaborate with IP and SoC architects and designs in Silicon Engineering as well as with Azure Hardware Systems & Infrastructure (AHSI) and other groups’ Hardware (HW) architects and designers to implement differentiated and highly optimized components. Oversee and lead the development of Compute Accelerator IPs in SCHIE, as well as owning the roadmap associated with them. Collaborate with SoC teams to comprehend the needs and trends on Compute and Accelerators, to drive the teams towards delivering the needed components. Collaborate with various partner teams in Microsoft (Azure HW Architecture, Microsoft Research, Compilers and Tools, Datacenter Design, etc.) to deliver on the above charter. Engage with industry and university research to identify, evaluate and adopt novel technologies and ideas. Help Silicon Engineering leadership to advance organization structure and capabilities. Collaborate closely with a diverse set of Silicon, system hardware, software, and application teams, synthesizing complex requirements and optimizing solutions across multiple layers of the solution stack, while considering technology trends and architectural advances in the broader community. Required/Minimum Qualifications

12+ years of technical engineering experience. OR Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 10+ years of technical engineering experience. OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 7+ years of technical engineering experience. OR Doctorate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field AND 5+ years of technical engineering experience. 10+ years of experience in leading large organizations that define and design technologies (IP or SoC) for successful programs. 10+ years of experience in computer/processor architecture or design leadership with track record of delivering differentiated architectures and SoCs for servers and/or client, or their building block IPs. 10+ years of experience in computer and systems architecture, with thorough understanding of system software (OS, Drivers, Firmware) and its interaction with the hardware platform. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Preferred Qualifications

Experience leading and driving complex projects with multiple workstreams spanning different business and technical disciplines. Superior problem-solving skills, analytical capabilities, and attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills and demonstrated leadership. Hardware Engineering M6 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $161,600 - $286,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $209,600 - $314,400 per year.
