Here, we will bring together talent and expertise, building upon GSK’s long history of vaccine development, to create globally leading viral capabilities and cutting-edge vaccines technologies, as we add to our robust portfolio targeting infectious diseases at every stage of life.The Mammalian Expression Technologies Center of Excellence (MET CoE) at GSK Vaccines is responsible for the generation of CHO-based production cell lines for the expression of innovative recombinant protein vaccines.The MET CoE is looking for a motivated scientist to support next-generation cell line engineering initiatives. Located in Cambridge, MA, the position will play a significant role in shaping current and next generation GSK’s leading vaccine platforms to accelerate addressing unmet medical needs. This role provides the opportunity to integrate a diverse group of top talented experts in the vaccines industry, lead key activities and further grow and progress in your career. These activities will include:Design and develop omics-based screening strategies for discovery of novel gene targets in CHO cells.Perform advanced NGS data analytics to elucidate key biological targets for next-generation CHO host evolution.Stay up to date with the latest quality and regulatory guidance to support project documentation and accelerated CMC timelines.The successful applicant may spend 3-6 months within the first year of hire in Rockville, MD to support and guarantee a smooth transition of methods and know-how to the new laboratories in Cambridge, MA.Basic Qualifications:We are looking for professionals with these required skills to help us achieve our goals:PhD with 2+ years’ industry experience in molecular biology, computational biology, genetics, or another relevant field.Two or more years of experience with NGS techniques (wet and dry lab) and associated methodologies, including analyses of large datasets.Two or more years of experience with the implementation of genome-scale modelling approaches to establish biological and mechanistic networks.Preferred Qualifications:The following skills are a plus for this role:Hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture, including clonal derivation and transfection.Experience with genome-editing tools for mammalian cell engineering.Deep understanding in CMC drug substance space as it relates to cell line development.
