With multiple projects in development, join our team as we forge the next generation of games and experiences in our award-winning sci-fi universe.Halo Studios is looking for a Senior Environment Technical Artist that can drive technical excellence for Halo’s vast array of environments. Working closely across projects and multi-discipline groups, you’ll specialize in partnering with our world building teams to ensure content is created in a performant and efficient manner. Roles at our studio are flexible, and you can work from home up to two days a week in this role.ResponsibilitiesWork with artists to identify and solve problems with new or existing technologies.Ensure environment art pipelines are enhanced using technical solutions while executing artistic and game vision.Analyze and optimize game GPU/CPU/streaming performance and memory usage.Serve as a liaison between Design/Art and Engineering teams by communicating artistic goals and technical practicalities to both audiences.Work creatively and technically in both DCC and game engine workflows.Define and document technical standards and content specifications.Explore new techniques via proof-of-concept prototypes to identify better solutions and drive content production productivity and efficiency.QualificationsRequired qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Graphic Design, Digital Arts, Technical Art, Game Design, or related field AND 4+ years technical art or industry-related design experience OR Master's Degree in Computer Science, Graphic Design, Digital Arts, Technical Art, Game Design, or related field AND 3+ years technical art or industry-related design experience.4+ years experience using related software and packages (e.g., Autodesk Maya, MotionBuilder, 3D Studio Max, Adobe Creative Suite, SideFX Houdini, Zbrush, Substance Suite).Other Requirements:Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements is required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings:Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.Preferred qualifications:2+ years’ experience working with large world environments in Unreal Engine.Experience shipping 2+ games end to end.Demonstrating your past success to work effectively with multiple teams and stakeholders, managing conflicting priorities.Ability to learn skills ad hoc to support disciplines across the art team.Technical Art IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.Microsoft will accept applications for the role until December 4, 2024.Microsoft is an equal opportunity employer.
