PG&E’s Workforce Education and Training (WE&T) team serves a vital role in teaching California’s workforce to recognize and act on energy savings, electrification, and GHG-reduction opportunities by providing access to energy-related skills, tools, and resources. WE&T strives to train a workforce capable of meeting California’s energy savings goals in the buildings that they design, engineer, build and operate while appropriately meeting occupant’s needs. WE&T’s curriculum provides technical upskilling to help professionals (designers, contractors, engineers, and building operators) understand how to incorporate energy efficiency into their core job functions. WE&T’s team of Energy Centers Technical Specialists designs, develops, delivers, and maintains energy efficiency curriculum on a range of subjects focused on the sectors with the greatest energy-saving potential including home performance, HVAC, lighting, daylighting, building envelope, commissioning, building operation, and electrification.Position Summary

The Senior Home Performance Technical Specialist will serve as a subject matter expert who manages, from creation through delivery, a segment of instructor-led and on-demand training and educational resources focused on improving energy performance in new and existing homes in California. This segment, also referred to as the Home Performance curriculum track, includes but is not limited to building science fundamentals, building envelope strategies (air sealing, insulating, window selection, advanced framing), mechanical systems efficiency (heat pumps, water system efficiency, ventilation and conditioning), inspection/testing/diagnostics (home energy rating, combustion safety), and other topics. Your primary focus will be to ensure that the Home Performance curriculum track remains relevant by identifying and delivering high-quality training topics to improve the knowledge and skills of California’s residential workforce, focusing on occupations that have the most potential to pass along energy savings, electrification, and decarbonization opportunities to residential occupants, and strategies to improve the prioritization of energy efficiency, electrification, and decarbonization in the residential design and construction industry.Additionally, you will collaborate with partners throughout the state to achieve PG&E's and California's energy efficiency goals through collaboration with other training organizations. Your responsibilities may also include providing high-level consultations for PG&E or statewide programs serving the residential segment. You will also assist other WE&T Curriculum Track Leads with Home Performance-related subject matter expertise on an as-needed basis. You should be dedicated to good design, energy efficiency, and practical solutions that meet the residential occupants' energy and comfort needs.The position is hybrid working from your remote office, in the field, or in-person based on business needs. The headquarter location for this role may be Oakland, San Ramon, or Stockton, CA. The role will require up to 20% travel time throughout PG&E’s territory.PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity.

Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed between the entry point and the middle of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.

This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.A reasonable salary range is:Bay Area Minimum: $95,000Bay Area Maximum: $143,000-OR-California Minimum: $90,000California Maximum: $136,000Job Responsibilities

Maintain, expand, and update the Home Performance curriculum map with strategies to improve the uptake of energy efficiency, electrification, and decarbonization education and resources among the residential design and construction industry.On-going delivery of Home Performance related education curriculum, including a mutually agreed upon teaching schedule, as well as recruiting, onboarding, directing, and evaluating third-party instructors or consultants.Act as an internal consultant to PG&E Energy Efficiency Programs, Energy Savings Assistance (ESA), or other lines of business.Manage consultant contracts including initiating and managing agreements, approving invoices, forecasting cost, and preparing budgets for quarterly and annual planning.Manage collaborations with post-secondary training partners and lead internal key initiative projects focused on continuous improvement for training delivery.Act as a liaison with the residential design and construction industry, research, professional, and educational organizations.Qualifications

Minimum:High School Diploma or General Education Diploma.4 years of relevant experience in the residential sector performing energy-efficient home design, construction, inspection/testing/diagnostics, or related work experience.Valid California driver’s license required or the ability to obtain one prior to start date.Desired:Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as building science, mechanical engineering, construction, or architecture, or equivalent work experience.Demonstrable work experience in the residential Home Performance field.Excellent communication, writing, speaking, customer relationship, and presentation skills, including presentations to management.Thorough understanding of residential new construction and retrofit related terminology, technology, practice, and codes.Ability to plan and execute a project while balancing multiple goals on a team.Familiarity with current Home Performance technologies and their implementation, including but not limited to building science fundamentals, electrification, building envelope strategies (air sealing, insulating, window selection, advanced framing), mechanical systems efficiency (heat pumps, water system efficiency, ventilation and conditioning), inspection/testing/diagnostics (home energy rating, combustion safety), California's Title 24 Part 6 Energy Standards, and other topics.Advanced degree in building science related fields or equivalent work experience (residential sector preferred).Experience working with residential single-family and multi-family home developers, builders, raters, code compliance officials, contractors, and installers in a variety of trades.Experience working with PG&E or other utility residential energy efficiency, demand response, or distributed generation programs.Experience in developing, designing, and teaching technical curricula including instructor-led and on-demand training.BPI, HERS, or similar home performance related certification.
